View Full Version : replacing rear crank shaft oil seal
Can someone outline the best way to do this. The gearbox will have to come out id have thought.Any other hints and tips guys.
Also can I buy an uprated seal to ensure it doesnt go again.
Thanks in advance.
no real trick to it mate, gearbox and flywheel off, then just replase! dont think u can get uprated ones and thay only leak with age so prob wont leak again anytime soon
Cheers dude.
Will get onto it next couple of weeks.
Just make sure when fitting the new one you don't push the seal too far in, as there is no lip to stop the seal going further.
Cheers abs mate. a worthy piece of advice cheers.
Has anyone an idea of how long it should take to change this, i.e job from start to finish.

Depends how good you are with the spanners, normally gearbox in and out takes me just under 2.5 hours so i will say 3hours max:p
(in workshop with two poster lift)
Ive got a good 4 poster ramp and done an engine rebuild and change on me Sup so yeah im quite good with the old spanners :eyebrows:
i had gearbox off in an hour, changed clutch, box back on all in about 3hours! its a very simple job
