Changing dash needle colour

BIG BLUE

Just put in some new defi gauges and was thinking of changing my tacho, speedo, etc needles to a deeper (more defi matching) red. Does anyone supply needles in alternative colours or has anyone painted their ones up somehow? if so any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

yeah I wanted to know if this is possible as i want mine a deeper red for when I do my blue led conversion?

I know heckler did some Defi stye Tacho Gauges see him?

I think he used a set of Metal Monkey dials, that you need to remove the needles to fit. However I am just not sure of the best way to alter the needle colours. Somebody said nail varnish, but I would like to find someone who has done the job before for some advice, first.....

I have re-painted faded original needles in Plasti-kote fast dry enamel (Halfords)- Orange Glow B27, this matches the analogue clock hands on a facelift. Not sure what other colours are available.

Use a small brush, no need to remove needles but you need a steady hand, use a long dowel to rest your hand on quick stokes and don't overload brush. Slip paper under needles just in case it drips. hope this helps.

When i used to work in the aircraft industry i remember some of the instrumentation guys using these dial paints as we used to borrow the white that looked white during the day but let the bulp light through at night. same as car dials. cant remember name or make, sorry.

I used a red paint from homebase which was in a very very small pot in hobby section (Ill try and find it). The paint needs to be translucent (like ink)to allow light to pass through to light it up.

You need to scrape the original pain off first though.
