Just a few questions about gauges, I am woundering where people have there gauges fitted, I have a pillar pod for 2 of them but i will need to put my other gauge and gauges when I buy more at a later date I will have to stuff them some where.

Where have you guys got them and post pics if you have some

also I was thinking of having two of them in the drivers front heater pods, If i do this do you block off the heating tubes in the dash?

also do you find it gets cold in the winter time without these?

There's no point in blocking the vents - the gauge will already do this. It will never get hot enough to damage the gauge. If you close the vent somehow, the air pressure just goes somewhere else (the other vents), so the same amount of hot or cold air still enters the cabin.

top glovebox is the way forward.

Ive got a Defi 80mm boost gauge in the airvent next to the clock and did notice quite abit od differnece inside the car (didnt feel as warm).

And yeah you have to block the pipe off. I just filled it full of foam (not expandable) the kind thats in sets etc.

Do you mean 60mm?

I'm not surprised you don't find it as warm, foam probably went somewhere it shouldn't lol.

As per the previous comments the cabin should be exactly the same, the air has to go somewhere. Its going to create the same volume of hot air. I never change my direction settings from the window anyway, unless my feet are cold lol.

I only had 2 gauges and i had them both in the drivers heater pods. If i wanted any more i would have them going up the A-Pillar. That would probably be enough for 5 gauges (total) which is plenty for anyone.

Not if you actually want to see them - the glovebox is way out of your sightline so you'll have to look away from the road to check the readings...if you've got time to do that, you aren't driving hard enough to need to worry about gauges!

Nope its an 80mm boost gauge. I removed the vent and opened the hole out very slightly. it looks fctory fit. very pleased with it.

There was no way I was going to spoil my dash by screwing gauges around it so the top glove box pod was for me. Im more than happy with it.

so far I have 3 gauges, boost, oil temp and oil pressure. I am thinking of AFR and water temp later on, if i could cut the clock out to fit a 60mm gauge and have it inline with the air vent i think that might look good.

Similar to top half of this.

If you want them flush like the pic then yeah alot of fibre glassing or filling needed. But if you just want it mounted where the clock was then the hole just need polishing out. Its a pretty simple proccess. Just trial and error until the gauge fits.

check this out from the American supra forum..

New overhead gauge pod, now with installed pics

Hi guys,

After great feedback in PM's about my overhead triple gauge pod, we've decided run a group buy feeler. The end product will of course come professionally painted gloss black to flow well with the interior. The cup attaches to the overhead panel in stock mounting points and replaces the all but useless overhead light.

Gauge cup size choices are:

Triple 60mm gauge pod

Triple 52mm gauge pod (as shown)

Order online at MVP Motorsports here.

Below is the protoype, the production models are of course guaranteed to not interfere with the rear view mirror.

The price for the triple cup would be $150.00, and that comes professionally painted (no rattle can here). Also since they are labor intensive, the quantity would of course be very small. If there is enough interest, we'll open the GB through an MVP link.

heres the link http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=478893&highlight=gauges

and some more pics..

Interior pics of the cups fitted. I love it. The rear view fits fine and doesn't interfere with the view.

Here we are. As you can see the pod hangs a hair low, however the view to the rear is straight through. If you guys want the gauges pushed a little higher towards the liner, we can raise it by 1/4 inch. Myself personally though, I'm happy with the view.

Also you can see that the guages are clearly visible and easy to read.

New pics...

Yes, they DO fit RHD and hardtop models. :) Also remember this is a prototype, and on the production models we're going to nudge the cups up to the head liner as far as they will go giving the most clearance at the rear view mirror.

Right, the molder was taking WAY too long and asking for even more time, so the fabricator got hardnosed with it and started making them all by hand. HUGE thanks to Chris for coming to the table with these.

Here's the 60mm version. You guys can see how it's well tucked up in the overhead giving maximum mirror clearance. The rear view is plentiful even with the 60mm guages.

The pics of the 52mm will be coming tomorrow sometime. The 52mm for all purposes clear the mirror entirely. Nice guy Ian is in the pics, he loves the camera :)

Looking great! We should be ready to ship by weeks end.
