Alpine Sat Nav

I'm toying with the idea of adding sat nav to my current Alpine set-up. (and maybe upgrading my CVA-1000 to a nweer unit)

It looks like the unit I need is the NVE-N077PS, but I've also seen the NVE-N077PV advertised - Does anyone know the difference between the 2 units - Are they for different markets?

I've just seen the Alpine NAV-200 kit which contains the NVE-N852A unit!!

Which off all of these Nav units is the best.

Simple... NVE-N077PS

The ONLY UK version. The Nav 200 is a US product.

I think the PV was the older version.

I've got the N077 with the IVA-D900R. IMO the best that's currently available. :D

OK, so if the NAV-200 unit is a USA unit, then will it work as well as the UK unit with a European map DVD? or doesn't it have the 3D junction images and such?

Sorry if I'm, not clear but I'm pissed up fella :)

The thing is at the moment I'm using a PDA with a Garmin GPS unit and it's pretty much OK, but it's fiddly AND i've already got a screen!! So if I can can get a second hand Alpine nav unit and offset the price by flogging the GPS and PDA I'll be well chuffed :)

By the way Matt just for comparison reasons :) how much can you do an Alpine nav DVD unit for?
(it took me 4 goes to write that btw :))

I don't know if the US version will work over here.
There a quite a few people that have tried to get non-UK navi systems working, but I don't think anyone has succeded.

I don't know enough about the technical reasons, but it's probably just different software to stop people doing it. A bit like DVD region encoding.
It could be a very expensive experiment to see if the US version might work!

I'm not at work at the moment, so don't quote me, but I'd guess that I can do the N077 for about £1200... probably less, but not by much.
