Oil Leak

2 weekends ago I serviced the car and fitted new oil filter and a sandwich plate with my oil pressure and temp.

Everything was done up tight, and the right seal on the plate etc. However, I've just noticed it dripping underneath and nearly all of my new valvoline is gone.

If its tight why should it leak? not sure what to do.

thanks

Check the oil pressure and temp sensors and what threads they have. If they are taptered (e.g. NPTF) you should use PTFE tape (or better that loctite hydraulic sealer stuff). If they are parallel threads you should have a dowty seal (a metal washer with a rubber center) or some other sort of seal. There should also be a rubber O ring between the sandwich plate and the oil filter fitting on the block.

I have one of these sandwich plates on my mk3 for the same job, same thing happened, when i took off the sandwich plate and rubbed the oil filter side with wet and dry, I found that it wasn't perfectly flat and was allowing seapage. may be worth checking.

How do I tell if its tapered or parallel? They are defi sensors for my Defi guages, and I just screwed them in tight.

The Defi sensors are tapered fittings and will require some form of thread sealant.
