View Full Version : should i confront one of my neighbours
where i live we all have a drive for our cars at the front of the house opposite is a car park for five cars for years we have all parked our cars in the bays opposite each house without any problems until now, recentley a guy has moved in with one of my neighbours further down the street away from our row of houses he drives a works van and when he moved in he decided to park in the bay i use leaving his drive empty (he goes out of his way to park there)my supra is on drive and i park the wifes car blocking mine in so if i need to take the sup out i have to park my wifes car round the corner a fair distance from my house,i accept i have now right over the bay all the neighbours accept and respect where we park our cars should i say something.
depends how he is. if he looks approachable you could try haveing a quiet word (be polite and friendly). he can either say sorry, or you can come to a comprimise. or he could tell you to effoff and thump you one.
but dont leave it too long - its harder to accept change once you're used to it. if that makes sense. as in, he gets used to it, no one complains, so why should he listen to you. whereas if you complain right away he thinks hes doing wrong.
think that makes sense, sorry im in "sunday" mode :)

me? good point? really?
well i never  :faint:
Smash his car up every time he parks there:d
isn't there some sort of law against size of vechile that are parked on residential roads/parking, were i work we have alot of fitters who take vechiles home and therefore we get members of public calling up to complain.
We politly track fitetr down and ask him to move but i understand from my conversation with one of our fitters that there is something in the law about vechiles parking blocking other people or blocking out sun light ,views, espacially if it is long wheel based vechile mainly the larger sprinters and iveco vechiles.
See if there is some on the forum who works for the police my be able to advise you
Is it a new estate? A lot don't allow commercial vehicles to be parked on them at all.
to add vans are classed as commercial vechiles due to size and some even having tacho's

jumping the gun a bit here chaps, could cause more aggro than is needed.
i'd say have a gentle word first, by all means do your research and have a backup plan, but dont go straight to his company etc right away. it could turn nasty without ever needing too....
no no i dont mean go to his company just saying when people call in they normally give us a lecture about the law , diffrence is each tiem you phone the fitter he will tell you
its a long standing battle some old dude has had with them .
i agree the suttle approach is a good option some times people dont realise what they do and how it can inconvience others

ahh sorry must have misread it or something :)
yeah more than likely he thinks its ok as its opposite the house and so is spare. maybe he thinks its better there than it is on the road as its out of the way. he may have a genuine reason for putting it there, but without seeing the area i cant say for sure. not everyones selfish in the world. unfortunately not everyones un-selfish either :(
anyhows, keep us updated mate :)
lets hope his a nice guy and you pair manage to sort it out one thing i hate is conflict amongst myself or any one else ,
p.s take a nice bottle of wine around have a few glasses with him

he only wants him to move his van mate, doesnt want to chat him up :p
Is there another space that means he doesnt have to park his car round the corner or are you just wanting him not to park there so you have the space that doesnt involve the walking?
Im being slow, diagram please :p
get a ramp open his back doors and park the wifes car in his van
