Do you think all the carbon bits you have on yours makes much difference to weight/speed/acceloration?
Animal
I reckon they would do if I wasn't down on horses; the doors and boot are a hell of a lot lighter, even with the glass and motors and everything still in. Once I get the engine rebuilt and back to a decent power output (for an N/A) I'll give it another run down the strip and see what times I can get. I've been saying for ages I'll find a weighbridge, but I've not got around to that yet.

Im sure thats what makes the car go quicker (The weight saving on an ss)

colsoop
The stock tailgate and glass is 27 kg's. That price seems a bit high, I reckon you could get it cheaper from Dusty. Are yopu wanting to buy it for aesthetic reasons or weight reduction ? if it is the latter you should consider a lexan screen to replace the heavy glass. Doors and tailgate are the beefy bits that would offer a weight saving in carbon fibre.
Guest cj748
I had looked into one of these as wanted a smooth back end and was quoted about £500 from Knight racer, so that one seems a bit pricey!? (In US Seibon ones are less than £300, how about offering group buy and post:innocent:)

You should feel the difference with a titanium exhaust, I could pick up the whole exhaust with 2 fingers includingthe back box.

Gaz Walker
They are very light yeah, especially if you have the lexan back window. We have the Seibon one on ours and its very good quality, price is £600.
Gazboy
Out of interest, what does this do to the weight distribution of the entire car?
bolarbag
Out of interest, what does this do to the weight distribution of the entire car? Probably fecks it up, I know orido runs 24kg(or lb's - cant remember which) weights on each rear corner to help balance the car out, I'm sure he runs a carbon hatch with lexan glass too though I guess if setup properly it would be benefical as your removing weight from the top of the car, and if adding counter weights(like orido) it would be closer to the cars centre of gravity

Can someone check and confirm/correct that?
Gaz Walker
Hi Gaz, We have out battery in the boot which evens things out mostly. Gaz.

It could be, I didnt think about the fact that most folk will have their stock boot interior so the weight distribution shouldnt be that bad, these counter weights that orido uses maybe to do with the fact that he has removed all the rear interior stuff, incl the spacesaver e.t.c too, Regardless, maybe a trip to a suspension and geometery specialist wouldnt be a bad idea if you intend using the Lexan Glass to
