What to do?

Right this is a strange one but I need help deciding what to do.

I live in a pub and my car is park outside where the bear garden is which has a very large cherry blossom tree. Now no matter where I park my car gets covered in tree sap, which I have heard can really mess with your paint work. Last night I was checking the car and there were some of the largest pools of sap I have ever seen on my car, at first I thought there had been a fight and that it was a blood splatter, so I cleaned it off, any way this morning again the car is covered, so there is no avoiding the sap also I have my car park as close to the cameras as possible but at the same time I try to keep it as far away from where the drunks tend to stand!

Now here’s the problem, come summer I will be getting my front lip, skirts and rear spats along with a full respray, now what worries me is the tree sap is going to damage my new paint job, so I figured get a car cover. However I have come to the conclusion that if my car is sitting with a cover on it will draw attention and curiosity also been in a beer garden it will no longer be seen as a car but as an object. I feel that drunken people will think that it is ok to lean against the car or sit on the bonnet :taped:

When I had my civic I had a drunk person kick my car because he must of thought it was funny, which dented my wing!, I had a drunk person key the word f**K on one of the rear arches, I also had a person try stand on my exhaust and balance on it! Not only my car but when my dad barred a fella for throwing a glass bottle into a crowd of people on the dance floor, he resulted in having his car beaten up. The fella was thrown out the back door where my dad temporary parks the car, this is where the bins are ect any way the panels on my dad’s x-trail got bashed in with a road cone and few barrels of chip fat oil where thrown against the car some emptied onto the car. So you get the picture things can get out of hand, luckely with the supra nothing has happened....yet

I have the option to park the car out the back where the bins are however this area is covered by trees, no cameras, lit up on a night. It has the perfect cover for a thief, Firstly you would think a thief would have to know it is there but from past experiences every burglary attempt has been from that part of the pub so parking it there might not be a good idea. We have also had charvs go play round there, get bottles out the bottle bins, throw them up in the air for fun, empty chip fat oil everywhere, graffiti the walls, we have even caught a couple shagging in a old fridge that was put out back to be picked up!

Now I must admit It sound rough where I live but it has really calmed down, the last thing that has happed was about 6 months ago, some guy broke into the pub only to steal 1 bottle of Budweiser, he got away but was later caught. Unfortunately for him he had a string of other offences and got sent down for 4 months, also the charvs hanging round the back has not happed for a long while but when they do it is usually young ones who are bored with little respect who like a make a mess.

So what would you do?

1. Use a car cover knowing how drunken people can act and that it may draw attention or be treat as an object and not a car.

2. Leave it to get covered in tree sap and have to clean it every day?

3. Park it out back with a car cover but knowing how charvs act they might one day come along and set the cover on fire!

Do you think that car covers draw curiosity and attention?

Id just give up the car, it would wind me up far too much to bother with. I had to sort some kids out just before christmas, using the carpark out the back of my appartment block as a short cut & using the bonnet of my old car as a spring board to get over the wall. First noticed when i had muddy footprints all over the bonnet. Dont think they came back, the celica bonnet was pretty sturdy but the supra bonnet wont take any abuse, so id have to kill them if they did it again.

move house?

ask neighbours if they use their garage, rent it?

You can buy self assembley metal garages!

build a shelter/ car port?

Wire.....mains electricity.......:D

...prison:rolleyes:

A farmer (think it was) got sent down the other day, had wired up his barn to the mains after a few break-ins, but forgot to tell his staff, one of the guys ended up having a heart attack when he went to open the doors.

Not advisable.

# Speak to your council - they may have garages nearby that you can rent for quite cheap per month.

# Get a car dome ("car port") - better than a cover as doesn't touch the paint work and people will be less likely to lean on it etc.

# How much room you got? Built something a little more permanent you can leave it in?

# If it's a weekend car - get the car stored somewhere that specialise in storing vehicles.

cant build a shelter, cant cut the tree down, have no neighbours as on a front street of a small town, nearest garage is 15 minuet walk and £100 a month :( I should be moving in the next year to two years.

so far nothing bad has happened but with the lively night life the car has getting quite scratched off people walking by aswell.

Tree sap how quickly should i get it off my car, is there any protective stuff you can get?

Do you guys think that a car cover would draw more attention, I mean you only really put a cover on a car that you car allot about, how many people put a cover on a mondeo or skoda, It is usually expensive audis bmws or sports cars.

The best option maybe to put a camera out back and put a cover on, I dont think charvs would risk it if there was a camera.

It will take a hell off alot of wire to wire a camera there :(

but would be less hassle then cleaning your car everyday....and it'll be less likely to be damaged, surely worth the investment for peace of mind.

It'll only get worse as the summer months kick in and people are outside more often later into the night.

at the back of your place how big is this, can it be sealed off from outside something say a brick wall all around , would the council allow that as may be an option wall all around and a gate .. open it when there is a need other wise leave it cloased

yer as razza said

and i couldnt cope with it either, i would be out there all the time and my car is in a garage with security cameras and a locked gate and i still worry about it being there as there are a lot of smack heads where i live and just unruly types who if you did something to them they would smash my car up so im moving house this year too just because of how sick i am of people basically where i live

so i feel for ya m8 and i wouldnt be able to cope with it like that at all

car covers do attract attention like you said but the only way your going to find out is get one before it gets painted then go from there really and yes tree sap is a b1tch at the best of times

its like bird poo its got an acid in it or some sort and ruines paint work big time

the only thing you can do is get some good polish on your car and keep ontop of it really

How about one of those "portable" garages .....ive seen them some where looks like you drive into a space and then unfold/open the "garage" it ends up like a small frame tent ...................rigid enough to stop drunks sitting on it and stopped the tree sap ;)

Cheers

Park it round the back, buy a cover & invest in SERIOUS security, alarms, clamps, locksm, a dummy camera. Could you put gravel down? make it noisy. Get something you could easily move in front of the car to make it less visible & move back when you want the car.

It'll only get worse as the summer months kick in and people are outside more often later into the night.

Thats may be why my car hasnt had the abuse that my civic got, last summer rained for 48 days and nights and i bought my car august the 25th i think, so summer was on the way out  So it is more then likely that it will be surrounded this summer, My mates mams supra got keyed out side our pub so i can see it happening to mine.

What are these portable garages?

I think if we can get a shelter built out the back and a camera fitted it may be ok, as there will be cover from the tree's, a roof over the car, a camera and along with my car alarm with a 2 mile alert on my fob, i think that would put a thief off, i hope.

Deffinetly need to get this sorted soon from what Razza has said has made me see why my car hasnt been touched... not a grate deal of drunks out, I mean not every one is that daft but i would say 1 in 50 are so up the numbers of people that are out come summer would mean there's a chance that there will be a nob head out, We have also found that fights, mini riots, well general trouble occures when you get mini buses of none locals coming to visit, every time we get mini buses with people from Sunderland there is always trouble some way or another, It usually start by people singing there local footy team song apart from that they dont have respect for the area they are in as there visiting so once filled with drink they like to act like there boss, Its funny really but its very true.

i know this might sound daft but i used to use baby monitors under the drivers seat as my bedroom wasnt too far away it picked everything up and i just got a sign saying hidden camera beware done in bright yellow with black writing

it did work so i would try this as there not expensive to buy and at least you would hear if anything or one was around your car at night
