A workmate of mine is having problems, it seems that the battery has run out in the fob but I cant for the life of me get into it (or her pants for that matter!!:D - joke) without using a some form of birmingham spanner!

She's been to the local BMW garage (who are well known for being t***s) and they told her it was a sealed unit and she'd have to buy a new 'un, £100 plus whatever it costs to program it.

Surely a car manufacturer would not be so short sighted as to produce a key fob powered by a battery where you cant get at the battery to change it!

Anybody know??

It is true as most bmw will charge the battery in the fob when it is plugged in the ignition.

I know its not the same but Seat told me it was a one piece unit for an Ibiza and it would be £60 for a new one and I managed to get into that eventually. Can't help with the BMW key tho :( Good luck.
