trying to decide on whether i want a supra tt or rx7 tt as my next car. any feedback on pro's/con's much appreciated as i may not know about it. auto or manual is a big problem. i hate the idea of auto and i love my manual but obviously auto's are more common. either way i know its a jap import i will get. what kind of miles do the valve guides need doing and turbo oil seals last until about when?

i was looking at kieghly on auto trader but after reading some of the posts i will not travel the 2hours to go an look. as i would hurt him if he tried to insult me over trade in's.

big thank you to all who have passed on this info as i would of went with money then been locked up.

I think reliability is the big thing really. The rotary engine is great but when it breaks it breaks big style.

Supra everyday of the week for me. However, you have to realise you are asking on a supra forum and a lot of members may have had the same sort of choice as yourself. They chose what they thought was the better of the 2. Would be the opposite on the RX7 forum i would assume.

Supra's generally don't break though, when left stock and looked after ;)

obviously i expect 99.9% on here to say supra as you all have 1 and love it. but i would like to know what your car has bad done both to moddify it and maintain it.

thanks all

well my rear bearings went, thats all i had on mine so far, but my mate has a RX7 and it is a great carlooks good, sounds great and is good to drive

but he does get sick of constantly topping up the oil, hes had a few other problems with it whilst modifying but so do others really

hi mate i have had both and we import and sell both at http://www.jm-imports.co.uk..

we have nice black rx7 due in 5 weeks see for sale section it has had rebuild so its a very good car but with a supra they are almost bomb proof but if your not keen on the auto then yes find a decent rx7 but not heavy modded..as imho life span for big singles is half the life of the twin lump..but for a supra they never break..and if they do its general small common issues as they are over 10 year olds now

it all depends on your budget, but imo the RX7 is a more fun and rewarding car to drive as it feels much more involved than the supra from what I've experienced and if you were to buy an RX7 get one that has been recently rebuilt by a specialist and you 'should' be ok, a single turbo one would be awesome!

The supra will pretty much take anything you throw at it and while still entertaning to drive you also get the reliability and 'the no need to worry' attitude each time you drive it which you wouldn't get with the rx7 as I often felt it was fragile and never wanted to push it too hard 'just incase' something breaks.

tuning wise I would pick the supra each and every time, if you had 9k to burn and just looking for a weekend fun car i'd pick a single turbo RX7, but if its a daily/weekend car then go for the supra as an rx7 daily would give you a headache being off the road now and again! let alone the fuel/repair bills

after the amounts of hassel my mate has had with his rex....it would be the supra everytime.

he's on his 3rd rebuild..!

love the rex, but couldnt live with rebuilding all the time and the way they drink petrol.

p.s. they are very small inside. bit of a squeeze if your 6foot, and large build.

Had a Supra, now have an RX7. It's my weekend car as a drive between sites the fuel was a killer. MPG wise the RX7 is worse than a supra I was getting 250-350 miles to a full tank in the supra depending the RX7 does 240-300 miles per tank both have 70litres tank.

To drive the RX7 beats the supra it's more responsive, turns quicker stops faster. It's a far more enjoyable drive.

There is always the thought in the back of my mind that the engines going to go pop but so far I've had no signs it doesn't even seem to use much oil which as a rotary it should.

Though you don't buy a car like the supra or rx for space the rx7 is cramped. I'm 5'7 and have no problem but friends who are over 6' always complain, strangly though if there driving they don't complain. Amazing as it may seem the boot is smaller in the RX7 than the supra.

As has been said if it's a weekend car RX7. Daily driver it's a Supra more space and less worry over the engine.

Listen, I can be objective here, I'm not into Jap cars but the soop is a nice piece of kit, looks good and well engineered. The Wankel in the RX has a short life span.
