is it possible for the auto box to slip as when i hit the kickdown the engine revs rise by about 2k but the car doesn't get any faster for about 2 secs or so an then off it goes .its almost the same feeling as you get when the clutch is starting to slip in a manual

Yes the clutch bands wear and you can get slip. Have you checked your autobox fluid level? When's the last time it was changed - if it looks brown and smells burnt it's probably too late for your box. The good news is that 2nd hand autoboxes go on here for around £250 so won't exactly break the bank!

Cheers,

Brian.

Absolutely. I had this and despite people saying it was the VSV's and other nonsense it did turn out to be the box. A refurbed box sorted the problem.

well i am gonna try the fluid change first an then if it comes to it or the problem becomes worse then i may take the box apart myself(i am heavy plant engineer to trade) have done a few earthmover autoboxes so how hard can a supra be.... the ones i normally do have 16 fwd an 16 rev gears
