Ask/search in this forum http://www.detailingworld.com and you will be told that it is an easy to do job yourself.

I was browsing on there the other day and came across a tutorial of restoring stone chips on the whole front of the car. They filled in the chips, sanded down and repainted. I would be a bit scpetical, but if you find that post they make it look so easy!

And it looked perfect afterwards too.

not sure about normal silver. but when my kit was done (quicksilver) they sprayed the front rear and skirts and 2 front wings... then they couldnt get a good enough blend up the pillars to match the paint so did the whole roof aswell. by the end the only thing they didnt spray was the doors the bonnet and the boot lid. lol

I sprayed my dash and it was rewarding. a real "i did that and it looks good" feeling. but there were still areas i could pick fault with it. definately get it done properly mate!

The materials required to do a decent job easily get to around £200. Compressor, spray gun, paints, thinners, hardeners, sandpaper etc... I've sprayed the bumper, skirts and spats on mine so its still cheaper that paying someone to do it. It took me three days and two attempts to do my bumper as it was my first attempt. You need allot of time and patients, it wont be perfect first time round thats for sure. But its very satisfying when you get it right.

i made a sort of spray booth with a £10 gazebo, and you cannot do this work unless the weather is good as the paint doesn't like it when it is cold

Did it not work out well for you when you tried it then? What happened?

I was spraying my civic bonnet matt black and made the biggest f**k up possible (I didn't even have to match it), as it was blotchy, had runs it and when I went to T-cut it 2 weeks later I made it even worse, it just stripped the paint off, so ordered a carbon fibre one and looks much better:d.
