My annoying headunit!!!!!

Went to put my double din 7" screen headunit in last night, everything went fine (after accidently ripping the gearstick gaiter) until I went to put the dash panel back on and it wouldn't fit over the head unit *que effing and blinding stage 1*, so I thought no worries i will just sand the edges of the dash panel down.

2 hours of sanding later still doesn't work *effing and blinding stage 2* so i think it's time to get the big guns out. So I went through every tool in the F***ing garage in some sort of massacre frenzy and then gave up.

So to cut a long story short, I need a new dash, centre glovebox(somehow managed to break this in the process), leather gearstick gaiter and headunit:(

Unfortunately not, as the head unit is physically too big for the hole in the dash.

Damn, it was a Kenwood 6029 I fitted but was just a bit tight along the top.

Not sure what to suggest apart from a severe going over with a dremmel type thing and one of those cutting blades to try and get a neat finish.

I hade the exact same problem with the GF's ST202 celica, took out a file pulled off the handle, popped it into the drill and 5 mins later it fitted :) (and doesnt look rough)

edit: also helps to soak the dash panel in boiling water for a few mins, or at the least pour some over it.

I can now confirm that I have also broken my odometer in the process aswell :rolleyes:.

Somebody stop me before I attempt to do anything with the car again.

How in the fook did u manage that?

I think we need to see pics of this massacre.

I had a double din in before fitting my 2 singles. They went in fine. Surely its a STD size for all double din's?

Scott =op
