What are you buying it for? i.e. for email and "internet" a MacBook is fine. If you're running 3DSM you'll need a MacBook Pro stuffed full of RAM ...

it will be mostly internet - perhaps a bit of parrallels, lots of movie/music/iphone stuff

hey,
my mate had a macbook an he just bought a macbook pro an he really likes it as they run smoother so if you have the extra money and the inclination the pro will probs be better, an they look better eh!!!

I have a Macbook and if you have the cash I'd say go for the Pro.

Slightly larger is the only downside so a tad less portable but all in all a much more capable machine (though my Macbook is great for what I bought it for :))

*pats his MBP*

If you don't need the graphics, go for a MB. If you need to use apps which rely on graphics card and RAM or want a higher res screen without so much colour bleed or dithering it's MBP all the way. Also the 17 hi-res screen is just loooovely. Oh and buy a MATTE screen not glossy! :)

Oh yeah look at macrumor's buyer's guide too http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Portable_Macs

I have a macbook and it suits me fine for most things.
Of course, I'd prefer the faster larger screened MBP - if only because it's made of nice aluminium.

Useful site :)

Why choose a matte screen over the gloss?

I'm thinking of upgrading my MBP at the moment so curious.
