View Full Version : I'm confused
I read this on the beeb:

Now I know it's april fools day, so I'm a bit suspicious this is all a jolly jape by politicians. It's a news report about the cost of prescriptions going down in Scotland, and it has actually happened, it isn't just the usual "big fat lie to get in power". In fact they go on to say that eventually prescriptions will, in stages, become free?!
I've perused the article and I simply cannot see an angle on it where either the public is worse off, freedoms are curtailed under the guise of safety, a politician lines their own pockets or gains power, or a combination thereof.
So I'm a bit confused as to why this prescription cost reduction has been implemented? What's the angle? Where is the big trap waiting to be sprung?
If I was the gullible type I'd say someone in power has delivered on a promise and come good and benefitted the population in general, and with no kickbacks to benefit themselves! But, seriously, I can't believe that as it's the first time I've heard of such an event in about 1,000,000 f***ing years.

Oh I don't know, there was that issue in 37,446 BC. Not quite the same thing I admit.
The SNP have been trying to make prescriptions free of charge for years now. Now that the SNP sits in parliament they are now implementing it.
Old news am afraid Ian, why do you think Berwick Upon Tweed now wants to re join Scotland?
Can they come and annex Norwich as well :)
It's free in Wales http://www.wales.nhs.uk/page.cfm?pid=9586
It was on the news a few years back, folks in England with and English GP would drive over the bridge to Wales for free drugs.....how mad.
Prescriptions are free in Wales Ian. Basically, taxpayers in England are subsidising NHS users in Wales & Scotland.

But you got to pay (via bridge) to 'enter' our country anyway  or were they doing a bulk prescription run :d

It's about time we gave then the independance they so crave. ;)
Thank you England but could you all pay a bit more and start sunsidising the fuel for us as well.
Direct contribitions also accepted!
Amen to that Ivan.
Every discussion about the break up of the Union (on other forums) always ends up with the English being accused of racism when the English posters also request independence too, and I bet this one ends up the same way. Shame really.
Meanwhile back in Westminster, our 'Ever-so-Green' (honestly) government are fiddling more figures.
Just read THIS (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/53fd64fc-ff74-11dc-b556-000077b07658.html?nclick_check=1).
And no, this isn't an April fools joke.

I smell media bull, look at the real figures and Scotlandn takes little more from England than it gives to England

Sounds like another good reason to move to scotland. I thought it would be Mr Salmon's way of saying "you were right to elect me".
