How many miles should brake pads last

Just a quick thought, as I'm going to Marham in 2 weeks. I had new rear disks and pads fitted last May and new front disks and pads fitted in June.

I have done approx 8000 miles on the rears and 6000 on the fronts (mostly motorway and slow moving Bristol traffic). Is it likely I'll need new pads before Marham. Going to have a look now, but just thought I'd see what people normally expect to get out of their pads.

cheers

I'm not sure if I'm totally correct on that statement :D I do feel that I use the brake a bit more in the auto around town.

In traffic in a manual you use clutch control and correct power you don't need to brake as much whereas in the auto you don't have quite as much control as it'll keep moving in D. Again just my feeling I'm sure I'll probably get shot down in flames soon.
