Glosphil
I've been wondering what clutch I have, as I've been full BPU for a while now, and I dont get any slip etc with the clutch I have when I go full pelt etc, however before I went BPU if I launched it at full whack I got a load of smoke from the clutch but not had it since. Is there an easy way to find out if its got an aftermarket clutch already? Thanks
Tricky-Ricky
There is no real way of telling, you could remove the inspection cover and have a look with a torch, but unless its a certain colour or twin or triple plate you wont be able to tell, but an educated guess tells me you have a std clutch;)
JustGav
Finish it competely Take it out then you can be sure what it was Expensive but good fun... might need a new set of tyres as well though.. Okay, serious answer. You would feel if you had a trick aftermarket clutch, they are usually heavy, very bitey or snappy. If it feels like a normal car clutch then I'd go with TR above and say stock. Aftermarket ones can be a complete PITA, I love the one on the NA (triple plate jobbie), but you do notice when you get home that your leg has had a workout. Glosphil
ok, but if its standard, shouldnt it slip at full whack 1.25bar?
Tricky-Ricky
Most std clutches will start to slip once BPU, as they are usually getting a bit worn anyway, if you think about it people buy the unmodified car with anything from 20 to 80K on them and then increase the power by 20% hardly surprising. bignum
My stock clutch has been ok at bpu, i changed it last week only due to the single and theres hardly any wear even after 60k.
Tricky-Ricky
Mine started slipping about 5k after going BPU with less than 60k on it.
