speedo lil bit off.

A few things made me think recently that the speedo on my car is waaaaay off (only had it a few weeks). did people suddenly start going really fast since i got this car?? hmm so i got my mate to go ahead at 70 & upwards. At 70 im doing 75, 80 im doing 87. Seems to be ok at 30-40 where it really matters.

Is there much you can do?

70 on gps = 73 on clock on mine. 30 & 40 are nearly spot on too. You're still within 10% of true speed though.

Not sure if the rolling radius of your wheels will affect the readings.

All Most speedo's read up to 10% fast.

Mine's the same..

mines the same sat nav says 70 mph clock says 78 but i have got 18s on

reading under is ok (70 indicated = 63) , a speedo should never read over though (70 indicated = 77) just lazzy toyota my honda was spot on with gps from 5 to over 100

Toyota were not lazy, they built in a little safety zone so you shouldn't get caught out. As several other people on here have stated the direct feed from the ECU is spot on.

Most car makers do this.

What wheel and tyre sizes do you have fitted?

Stock 16" 50 profiles. Plus my mate was in his scoob with not sure what wheels on, not standard. So his will be over, his 70mph is 75 on mine, maybe mine is 10mph out. My last car was a toyota & had no problems there. Like i say since i got this, the traffic seems to have speeded up a lot lol. I just wondered if something went wrong when they converted from kmph to mph
