Sorry to bring this one up again, but it was answered on the old board and I have lost the info!

I am looking for a program to convert cd's to mp3, be able to edit mp3 files and burn them on to cd's in audio or mp3 format. Should I buy one , or download a trial version and buy it later. Also, where are all the best music sharing sites?

Thanks to all who replied before!

Gordon,

Although far from state of the art, all my audio software is free and the setup files are small enough to e-mail or download rapidly.

Ripping: CDDAE
Editing: Soundgaget Pro (edits WAV format - hardly ever have to use this).
MP3 encoding / decoding: RazorLAME
Burning: I use Nero, but you should have software with your CD burner.

Some of the audiophiles here will no doubt have all-in-one packages that can kill all four birds with one large stone.

Adaptect easy cd creator 4 is the easiest prog to convert mp3 to real cd audio.

Personally, get an mp3 player for the car. Theyyy'rreee Great.

One for the Frosties fans there.

I used to use that and I agree It's very good and easy to use. I've not been able to get it to work since upgradeing my OS to XP.. The only patch I've found is one you have to buy:mad:

that seems to be the story for XP there is quite a lot of hardware/software - the only people I know who tried XP sent it back and got a refund !
