Bit of a sister thread to this one, but without Q2 (members only): http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=144748

I'm thinking of (finally!) buying a satnav for the car. A couple of questions:

1) For only occasional use (UK driving only, don't need any extras, etc), would people recommend the TomTom One? TomTom seem to be a trusted make, and their One device is entry-level. If not, what's your recommendation?

3) I've got a Palm Tungsten T3 PDA. I've seen that you can get TomTom satnav receivers for these to turn the palm into a satnav. Does anyone know if these are any good, or is it a case of "jack of all trades, master of none?"

Where's option 2?

I prefer the PDA route, as I can use it for other work related things. Yes, you can get GPS receivers for bluetooth (requiring their own power supply) or as slot-ins for either SD or CF slots.

I have the old-style TT1 - never had a problem, picked it up cheap about a year ago, and does everything I want a satnav to. :)

Q2 is in the other thread I linked to in post #1. I'm possibly being over-cautious, but I didn't want to ask that question on an open forum.

By slot-ins, do you mean the SD or CF card itself is the satellite receiver?

Where did you pick it up from? Can you still get map updates for the old satnav devices?

TomTom sell new maps for all its models so don't worry if you've got an old one.
