Guys, the SL55 did not turn up.......:D Thank God!!

Lots to tell you.....As I mentioned about another rich kid getting a Supra with major mods.... The guy got his car out on thursday night and flew by me and my friends who were out late eating ice cream...... I lost my appetite immediately when I heard the loud waste-gate I thought its all over for me. The guy had a HKS T51R turbo with Fuel -1000cc injectors, surge tank, F-con V pro, HKS triple clutch and long list of HKS parts.......... The bast**d did a burn out in front of me as he had a line lock....:(

I got no sleep Thursday & Friday thinking of how I will get fried in front of 15,000 people. Then came Saturday for practice sessions when to my shock he was running 14 sec timing. Fu*k this is not happening :innocent: They made me race him and I pulled one car length on him after mis-shifting. He was in shock!!! So was I.

Track was cemented not ideal for drag racing bad traction in 1st and fish tailing in 2nd.

Race day -- killed him by almost 3 car lengths clocked a time of 13sec his best was 14.5!!!!!!!:D I also beat a old Porsche turbo / lotus elise/S2000/3000GT/Porsche Boxter/Lexus GS300 turbo.. etc..
He was boasting to his friends how he is going to toast me with his so called 700 bhp........ Guess he would have if he knew what 700 hp felt like.. Cant understand what was wrong with his car as I could pull on him easy. He was running 1.4 bar boost?????
Anyway I Won 1ST place in 3000cc and above ---- 1ST place in Foreign open fastest time....:D Crowd was totally ecstatic and so was I.
:D

Were there no Skylines running?

Excellent Randy, thats kickass!! :D

randy
25-11-03, 14:26
Thanks a lot guys!!!! Gaz International regulations on Drag racing states that in a particular class say 2000cc -- 3000cc they have to be N/A only if you have a turbo then it gets multiplied by 1.7 so 2997 *1.7 would become 5094cc:)
We have a stock R34 Skyline here but the guy who owns it is not into racing....... Man I am dreading racing with the Skylines.. My friend has a R32 GTS which he is working on to convert to RB26 with HKS turbos etc... should be ready in a couple of months.. There are 2 new R34 skylines getting imported from Japan with full mods soon. :(
We have a Championship Round next year FEB with big sponsorship...I am going single by then!!:)

what trap speeds were you both getting?

seems a few big power cars struggle with bad traction. and the 51r is an old laggy turbo, big power but laggy. if a big power car is getting 14.5 second 1/4 why go big power when you can do better on stock turbos?
if i spent all that money going single to run 14.5 think the car would burn car at strip.
randy did you get any drag radials?

dude

'if a big power car is getting 14.5 second 1/4 why go big power when you can do better on stock turbos?'

Its obvious Mark .... it was tuned in the UK , i reckon if he threw another 10,000 at it he'd easy get in the 15's

Dude:flame Dev LMAO makes you laugh dont it. the supra should be in 11`s and 10`s its too good a car to be in 14`s

even tuned astra turbos do it in high 13`s low 14`s with FWD
lets hope for good things this next year

My trap speed was about 195 km pretty high I think. I could not get a hold of the BF Goodrich Drag Radials as they are made only in the U.S and I would need to import them paying 410 pounds per tire:eek: in 315/30/18 Should get them for the next drag meet...:)

I certainly think something is wrong with his car....cause he should have got a real kick everytime boost hits with a T51R... even at 1.4 bar and should have been putting down at least 500+rwhp. He also had a raised rev limit to 8000.:)

Randy, whats the average ambient temperatures and humidity levels out there?

This is obviously a major factor on you lot times and performance in those parts......

None the less you :twak: spanked sum arse.........

randy
27-11-03, 09:04
Temp was about 25 degrees C and humidity was about 70%. We are also 1200 ft above sea level.

Steve W2
27-11-03, 10:11
Should have asignificant effect on your performance as the air will be thinner at that height:eek:

You should do night racing, doesn't it get pretty cold at night where you are?

OOPS!!! Big correction here Bangalore is actually 1100+meters above sea level which is about 3000 ft..
Would this height affect the performance and to what extent?:)

The higher you go, the greater the advantage of a turbo car over a n/a car.

John - won't the performance deteriorate as the air is thinner (less dense) than down here with the rest of us.:conf:

Suprash
27-11-03, 16:31
That would mean it would get to the stage where there wasnt any air and then go bang........

Steve W2
27-11-03, 17:22
Yeah you would be out of our stratosphere and in space!:)

Yeah, better at lower altitude as you want MORE air forced in.

Couldn't agree more. Trust me I'm an engineer!!:)

basically the density of air at sea level is approx. 1.226Kg/m3, at 1200m the air density drops to 1.045Kg/m3:eek:

This means for every cubic metre of air intake you have you will get 1.226Kg of air at sea level and 1.045Kg of air at 1200m.

This is a signifigant decrease in air andwould explain your slow trap times Randy.

If someone tells me the size of the air inlet I will work out the difference in mass airflow:)

Thats what we like a good bit of multiplication, fooking hell, I cant even spell it.....

IC engines work better at lower altitudes whereas jet engines work better in higher altitudes...dudes!

Wrong!

Yes, both work best at lowest possible altitudes, the reason powerful jets fly so high is not for engine efficiency, but to cool the body adequately. If you went mach 2 in concorde for example, at 10000 feet, it would probably burn up!

However, maybe you could be a little more helpful in future.

Sorry Syed, but your first statement is correct but the rest is not!
I would like to explain, but unfortunatly just came in from work and had enough of Flying objects for today......plus I need to sleep to do it all over again tomorrow!
