View Full Version : Excuse me sir, is this your car?
Was in london for lunch today. On the way back i stopped for petrol and was met by 2 undercover police officers.
Was in the RS4 and they asked if it was my car. I explained it was my wifes. They told me they saw me in it earlier that day and had given all the local police my reg. as they suspected it stolen. (they have seen a trend of young white men steeling RS4's and RS6's in the area)
They knew the car lived in essex and had asked a local policeman to go to my house to make sure it wasnt stolen.
I gave them my drivers liscence and asked for another look at his ID as he one was taking down the details, the other was chatting to my wife.
Wasnt given any paperwork so rung the police on the way home to check they were genuine and it all checked out ok :)
They were in a toyota prius with a camera in the back.
EDIT: Just to add the 2 guys were very nice and professional and im really impressed that they are trying to prevent crime like this.
See, know that would really annoy me. Sitting there doing nothing wrong and then getting suspected of steeling your car:blink: Just because you are a young guy in a nice car doesn't mean you've nicked it.
Though depends on where you live though I suppose:D

I agree with Hoff - Mike use to get pulled all the time when he first got the Subaru.
He was 23 at the time and had a brand new 02 plate. He worked next to a police station and they were always on his case, they also tried to push him into putting his foot down just so they could pull him.
It got really fustrating after a while.

Got to say that the church and the reception looked amazing! I dare not show Clare or she'll be after the same thing! (At least i know who to come to for ideas!)
As for you getting pulled, it's not just young people. A friend of mine got pulled at 3am in his BMW as there had been a spate of BMW thefts.... he was 75+

I like theyr approach, atleast theyr trying to do something about it.
A couple of years ago I had a fiesta mk3 rst lookalike, on a Q plate. I used to get soooo much hastle in it doing nothing, got pulled 7 times in a month! Some of the best were accused of doing donuts in it and they wouldnt belive me that we'd just come from the cinema and the engine was stone cold. Also had grief before over playing exssessivly loud music- someone had given my reg number, but I had no audio in my car, no hu, no speakers, and still I was being told not to have it up loud ect ect.
Depends on the copper i guess, but aslong as they treat me with respect i dont mind getting pulled if I look suspiciouse (spl) driving it, atleast then I know if they see the car again and its not me driving it they know to again pull it/ might pick up that something is wrong.
I used to get it all the time when I was 18 and driving my dads prelude. my best record was pulled 3 times in one night... twice by the same copper! was because my dad was a pub landlord....

Good, proactive policing IMHO
You'd be glad of it if your car HAD been nicked while you were away for Easter :D
An expensive, high performance car out of its area driven by a very young driver (sorry John, but you look about 16!!) at a time when people are likely away from home will be stopped much more often than an older driver in a boring car. And for good reason too!
High perf cars are stolen to order for 'jobs' by the criminal fraternity, normally by taking the keys from the victim's home.
Expect to get stopped a few times, but for all the good reasons ;)
Nice pics mate, who done the photography,
From the lighting, the camera angles and the sparse use of colour, I'd say it was the work of Jez Dickson.

:d I kinda came to that conclusion too. Different reasons though. :rlol:

Firstly i found it quite an experience. Seeing as im sure he was waiting for me to try to run.
Secondly its a big prob the keys being stolen. Mine are kept hidden in a very safe.
And thirdly but mainly i hope they dont "do" me for any small offences like 75 in a 70 as an excuse to stop and check me.
Best try to be whiter than white.....like hell :eyebrows:
Oh and i forgot, being stopped while filling up would result in no car chase and prob no damage to my stolen car so i would have been over the moon to have it back if it had been nicked.
