...I have a seperate amp from my Sony headunit to the stock sub in the boot (Jspec GZ) it has high/low pass filters and some other switches and little turny-nobs ;)

can i throw away the stock sub speaker, put in a decent "normal" speaker (as i think i'd get a greater range of speakers to choose from that would fit that hole) and filter out all the treble (high frequency noise) and just get the bass out of the "normal" speaker? (which will probably be a lot better than the stock sub, especially in terms of what WATTS i can pump through it :-)

i dont really want to do any custom-sub-box-12inch-jobbie work,
( plus i want it to be cheap :) )

cheers

Sure you can do that, but I dont know how good it will sound!

You can get Subs as small as 6" I believe.?! I'm not sure how big the stock sub box is as I've never seen one, you might even be able to get an 8" sub in there?!

I think Matt H has a 10" in the stock location, but not in the stock tube?!

Over to you Mr H........ :)
