New regs came in on April 1st, the day I got stopped for my front plate being too small. There is another thread on here somewhere with a link to the DVLA site giving legal sizes.

Well I've had my small front plate for months now and never had any problems:

.....touch wood!
Show us a picture of the number plate, then. And by the way, you appear to have a very small bit of dymo tape stuck to your bumper :D
My front plate is 0.5" not tall enough. No-one has noticed yet...

I have a document from the DVLA stating if the car has a bumper bracket on the car (import only), your plate can be the same size as the bracket but not smaller. The ones on the supra front are 10.5" wides by about 3". I done this and never got stopped. I will find the doucment and post up. I recieved it last sempember
Boost
Boost that would be spot on m8, cheers!
CARS DESIGNED FOR ROADS ABROAD OFTEN HAVE AN APETURE IN THE BUMPER FOR A NUMBER PLATE THAT DOES NOT MATCH A LEGAL UK SIZE. IN THE PAST MOTORCYCLE PLATES HAVE BEEN USED. INITIALLY THE DVLA ISSUED A STATEMENT TO SAY THAT THIS PRACTICE WOULD NOT BE PERMITTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 1ST 2001
HOWEVER ......... TRANSPORT MINISTER JOHN SPELLAR ANNOUNCED ON 31ST JULY THAT THE PRACTICE WOULD BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE.
All info is on DVLA web site.
Hope it helps.... Print it out and if you get stopped show it the police officer. .
Cool, cheers m8 - now printed and sitting in my glovebox :D
