View Full Version : Forum Name Plate !
Following on from a couple of threads
(see http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=142771 ) regarding a number plate size "Forum Name plate", there seems to be some interest.
I've PM'd Mawby for the details on getting a "group buy" going, but for now, here's a mock-up that www.craigsplates.co.uk have
done for me.
This is their first attempt and I would alter a couple of things:
1, make the real name and mkivsupra.net the same font & size.
2, make the Toyota symbol in the centre a bit more faded.
They can do it on a vast range of sizes, but we are looking at about £10.00 - £14.00 a plate for standard sizes.
Postage will be on top, but I would be pleased to deliver them fre at Japfest etc.
The idea is that we either pop it over the front number plate or pop it in a window at meets.
Just looking for some feedback at the mo.
I'm not sure yet if it would be better to order through me, or order direct from them quoting the Club name.

Please find attached some artwork I have played around with, starting from your image and then building it up. I've tried to keep the club colours and haven't over complicated it as per your instruction. Normally we don't do this service for free, but that's the perk of owning a Jap car, you keep in with the office manager lol!!!
Prices will depend on quanity:
1-5 ~ £10.00 per oblong, £14.00 for any other stock size plate. This includes VAT but not postage.
6 - 20 ~ above price less 50p each plate
21+ ~ above price less £1.00 each plate
I look forward to hearing from you. It obviously goes without saying this proof remains the intellectual property of Craigsplates.com Ltd until you purchase from us

Great idea, ive got the same problem, im trying to remember number plates as reference to owners on here to have a chat,

What do people think about sticking as closely as we can to the original forum name font (the one above our avetar) for the plate forum name ?
umm, might be interested if the design was a bit more appealing / attractive.. how about colours to match our paint work?! :search: yeah that would be good

It needs to be simpler IMO.

(depends how they make them - this wont work so well if its cut vinyl, would print well though)

In that case, how about working on a Twin Turbo logo that matches the Supra logo - that can be turned into a car badge !

i like this design, not too fussy, maybe add something like 93 TT or 93 NA, 93 aerotop or whatever. same size and font as the name but under the Supra logo. Platemaker usually gives you a choice of border, colour etc. Gotta be worth doing for meets alone.

I tried to keep the fine detail off of the plates, you can pretty much tell what a car is by tilting you head up a degree or two - if your already looking at the front plate!

Just wondered what was happening reguarding these plates, only 7 weeks to one of the main events of the year and i would like one of these if its going ahead?
You can get some 'standard' style plates made up from internet sites (I already bought a pair with V8 SUP, how sad!)
I like Smiffad's plate :)
If were not going to do a club group buy i will have to go out and get a plain one made up :(

It only takes a couple of days to get things rolling.
Smiffad's plate looks best to me as well and they are happy to do them like that.
Just loking at fonts etc.

GB's need to be approved by the mods first. Shall I run this past them now Gerry? Can't see there being an issue as I've not seen any trader offer these before.

Although I think removing our 'Proper names', to enlarge the club logo would be a better use of that space, if we need to find out who's car's who's, we can always ask each other, I don't see why we have to have our full names on them...

Completely missed this thread first time round! I'm up for one and I'm not too fussed on the design/layout as I'll only be using it at meets! I agree the original one was perhaps a touch busy, but some of the ones Smiffad came up with were good. :)

I personally don't think this is a problem.
1, The design is very different.
2, There are so few of them about it doesn't really matter (they have 8 signed up for the Japfest - we have 80) :)

Wouldnt have to put your full name on just your first.
Just to let you know that I'm talking to Craigsplates and I think we will have firm details and prices next week.
I know rough prices and in order to get deliverey down am hoping to get a Group Buy up for free delivery at Japfest.
If the majority need them before that, we could do this, but there would be postage on them.
Provisionally, the details are:
One (only) club design in standard size and five, six & seven digit "import" plate sizes.
Orders / payment will be directly to a nominated person at Craigsplates quoting mkivsupra.net, user name and real name
(first, both or none - up to you).
If anybody doesn't like the design / price/ details I won't sulk if he/she gets their own done elsewhere.
Thanks to Smiffad who's doing the designs.
I will have one of these, will be well handy for knowing who is who.

Cut off date for delivery at Japfest (post free) will be FRIDAY 2nd MAY, so you will still have two weeks to get around to ordering.
Prices are: Stock UK oblong plate £10.00 / Import oblong £14.00
postage will be £2.99 if not collected at Japfest.
Orders will be direct to Karen and payment will be by credit / debit card / cheque etc.
Full details on everything will be on new Group Buy thread.
Photo shows Import size plate (forgive the sellotape) and Adam's final design.
This will be the only design offered with no variants except on the real name where you can have none, first or both.
