on uk cars the reflector on the boot lid do they work or not.

i thought they didnt come wired but you can wire it up if you want to.

From reading other posts I understand that they don't light up without modification. They can be wired to do so, but I think it's more a PITA than you first might realise (something to do with needing a long length of wire to do it).

Early UK's have fake central brake lights as LED's weren't legal in 1993 on UK roads. Later UK cars have real lights though. I've got a real one to put on my car but the intense removal of a lot of the interior and then wiring has put me off so far!

I didn't know that!!! I have a very early UK car and I thought (and so did Toyota!!!) that the light was f**ked!!!

:D

If you remove the panel on the inside of the boot door you'll see where you can plug a real one in :D

But, the issue comes when you follow that wire back into the cabin - it essentially doesn't go anywhere. I think chiefgroover did a "how to" thread that I dug up when I got my real light. It involves taking a wire from somewhere behind the passenger seat over the ceiling to the drivers side, so I thought "sod that for a bunch of bananas" and put the light in my glovebox for now :D
