one of nicks exhaust manifolds

remove both cats

a decent exhaust

an apexi filter sheilded and cold airflow kit

that should give approx 20bhp

but that will cost you about a grand .save up another 2.5k and get jezz to drop a tt lump in it :)

add another grand to that to get a garage to do a tt

How long is a piece of string?

It's still a 3.0 straight six afterall so it's not untunable, if you can get 225 out of a Vauxhall red top then you can also get gains on a 2zge but you'll have to pay normal prices (this forum is spoilt by how cheap a gte is to tune).

All the above plus some naughty cams, a Motec and a raised rev limit.

Very true :)

As has been said, it wont be cheap. 100bhp per litre is not out of reach but it will cost a fair amount !

Incidentally, we had a Toyota Levin on the dyno this week. It has the 4AGE engine with the vvti - made spot on 160bhp out of its 1600cc engine, I was reasonably impressed !

I have to say, part of me is seriously tempted to try this. An NA as a track car, totally stripped. Then rebuild the engine with the goal of reducing rotational mass. Some serious headwork, throttle bodies, cams etc and then remap with a raised rev limit.

Okay it's hardly cost effective, but since when has being a petrolhead been cost effective :D
