As per the title.

Any thoughts?

Also, which site is best for thoroughness of checks compared to the fee charged? I've only used the AA previously. £25, very thorough and with a compensation payout if there details are wrong.

I used them on the Red TT I brought, but then I remember reading on here they could not always be trusted with the info they give, there is a thread on it somewhere

Yeah one of the guys on here bought a red TT that, i think, he checked on "mycarcheck". It said it was ok but it turned out it was a writeoff.

:D
It came back clean on there report, and clean on HPI :), but I do remember just picking the car up and reading on here they had some reports coming back as clean cars when the owners knew they were CAT C or D

I think I'll use hpicheck or having read the above post I might just stick to the AA.

Found it, looks like they sorted the issue so may be worth it now for £3.95

i'd say if its been with the owner for years, looks genuine and everything else checks out then STILL DO THE CHECK....you never ,1k is 1k at the end of the day, and £5 is negligable

Well the cheapest way to do it is by texting CHECK XX51XXXX - your reg number, to 88600 you get 3 texts back about the car at 50p per text and no others after that. I have used it loads, works very well!

yes to see if theres outstanding finance on the vehicle because some of these chumps dont pay it off

Didn't bother in the end. The car I went to see turned out to be a shed of the worst kind despite me repeatedly asking it's condition before I went to look.

Waste of a morning.

I havent read the rest of the thread but i would do a check, its not just the money (price of the car) but it could be a cut and shut or something

Just this second used these too - no compaints here for just £5

Always worth getting a check anyway Martin - at least if something does come out on the report you have something to haggle the price down with.
