Has anyone with an auto had the auto light flash at them?

I changed by dashboard lights a few weeks ago and they worked fine but then i had to change them due to fading and when i drove the car after, the O/D light started flashing at me...

Anyone have ideas?

Try an ECU reset first off and see if that cures the problem

Hey there... this is what the problem is. the ODO isnt sending a signal to the ecu. its a common problem. Especially when you pull the connector on and off. the wire that this shows just goes into the odo and then right back out to the ecu. what happens is the connection inside the odo connector doesnt send it through to the ecu. I did this and everything run great and the od light doesnt flash anymore. if you have cruise it probably isnt working as well.... once you do this mod the cruise will work again, you will also notice a difference on shifting because the ecu is getting a good connection now from the speed sensor(which the pink wire is from) I have done this to my car as well as serval others both TT and NAs. good luck

Join the pink to the blue wire?

Joining the two wires together is a workaround for the "Code 42 error", which is what happens when the circuit on the ODOmeter board breaks down and starts to foul up the re-broadcast signal.

The signal that goes back out again is subtley different from the input one. It is also "buffered", which means that it can supply more current than the input circuit.

Therefore I'm a bit dubious about the workaround that bypasses the buffer circuit completely. It does seem to work for a lot of people, though. I do wonder whether this is because many cars have a speed delimiter / converter further down the wire that takes over the buffering function.
