Welcome to the club Laura
There is loads of info on the site that'll help you find the right car, read up as much as you can before buying, good place to start is the FAQ section here:
http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=60
If you find one you like, post details so we can give it the once over for you.
Good luck with your search.
cheers

wahoo lol, id say about £7000 really
Get a Decent Auto TT for that. Mind Insurance would be pricey. Try some Na's. Pick a Goodun up for 4-5k. UK spec normally come with cheaper insurance, shame no uk spec's were NA.

My Gf... first car just passed test Saxo VTR.... £550 fully comp! I paid £1100 on a 1.1 fiesta.

Thats a twin turbo import, I don't even think you could insure that regardless of cost. Also it is a bit overpriced.
how much averagely am i looking to spend including insurance then?
Go for an NA first Laura in my opinion, maybe 8k? 4k car 4k insurance?
how about this?

Edit: if it wasn't sold god damn.
Mind Insurance would be pricey.
I've heard of models insuring their bodies, but I've never heard of mind insurance before.
What would it cost to insure a 34 year old mind and would I have to disclose the fact that it's been modified with aftermarket LSD?
I am a drummer, so I would'nt expect the insurance to cost much TBH.
[edit] BTW - Hello new girl
How much driving experience do you have, especially of big, rear wheel drive cars?
If the answer is little or non, I would definitely recommend getting a non-turbo Supra to start with. Even the non-turbo with it's 3L engine, can be quite a hand full if you have no experience of rear wheel drive cars, especially so in the wet.
See if you can get a ride in one first, perhaps see if there is a local club meet you can go along to, I'm sure there'd be a queue of guys more than happy to oblige ;)
Mind, Insurance would be pricey, is that better? Surely you know what I meant?

no experience at all only had little cars before might juist wait until iv earnt a couple of ncb's before hand then

There is a big difference between driving a small front wheel drive Clio and a big 3L rear wheel drive Supra. I don't want to put you off buying one, because they are great cars, but I would recommend getting a go in one first to make sure it is what you want.
There are a lot of guys on here who have graduated from MR2's, being smaller they are a good way of learning to drive a rear wheel drive car (albeit with the engine in the wrong end :) ).

That is. :p
I knew what you meant, but couldn't pass up a chance to take the piss. I think I was a dialysis machine in a past life.
Sounds about right, lol,:D
Laura try and get a go in one before it's a definite.

I'd phone around and get some quotes if I were you. Sky might just laugh but it's worth checking. I tried getting my ex on my policy and they wouldn't touch her cos she'd only just passed her test. she was 24 though...

Welcome to the club, and good luck. I do think it would be a good idea to hold off on a Supra until you have at least a couple of years NCB, then you'd enjoy it more :)
My first car was a Hyundai Coupe, yes some may laugh but it looked pretty good at the time and is better than a little metro or something :) I got the 1.6 and insurance was just under a grand.
EDIT awww found a pic of her now I am nostalgic

Welcome to the club.
I went from a saxo (vts) to the supra. i think if you are sensible you will be fine with it.
Getting insurance at a non extortionate price may be an issue though.
Pop along to a meet in the Midlands sometime, when it warms up a bit :D and get one of the owners to take you out for a spin.
Hi Laura welcome to the club.Enjoy.

Welcome :) I was 20 when I had my first supra, I think I was paying about 900 3rd party, now paying 700 fully comp and i'm only a year older!
Yeah took my test in it too - the examiner didn't know what to think :D
:)My first car was a fully rally prepared 1981 Lotus Sunbeam, when I went to take my test the examiner refused to let me use the car because it had Five point race harness:D
I would still love to own one now, gone to look for a photo:(
Welcome to the club, you would be very happy with an N/A to start with
Hi Laura, if you fancy it there is a getting together of some Midlands Supra people at a pub next weekend, see here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=140241).
You're more than welcome to join us. We don't bite. Well, I don't.
