whats the point of starting an auction at a £1, then putting a reserve that is at least 7k(guess) but it is a vehicle .
why not just put the reserve price as a starting price and cut out all the pointless bidding , or am i missing something here

it's cheaper to list it that way i think.
its to hope people get into a bidding war and let the price carry itself away, less likely with a high starting price.

To save on Ebay charges.
yeah, but you have to pay for reserves on ebay - more than the listing fee sometimes!!!!

Rather than paying both, what would you rather have? a low no reserve listing and have the chance of your item getting sold for peanuts.
Or save on the listing price and pay a little extra for reserve price to have a chance of not loosing too much?
I know which one I would choose.
its just to start people bidding, intrest really does create intrest.

I hate ebay! and quite alot of the people who ask stupid questions are c**ts who deserve negative feedback!!! like the tw4t who offered me £400 for the Starlet at the end of feb! I'd rather burn it.
I agree with you on that, I got my first neg feedback (320+ positive)last week all because someone never read the ad and left negative feedback the day he recieved the item, did not even attempt to contact me, you cannot make it cleaer than in black and white writing.

ok , this is what happened wtf .
like i said started at a quid , i placed a few bids to try and find what the reserve was , got it up to over 5k still reserve not met but iam now top bidder ,
gets home today to find that the auction has finished, there was a number attached to the auction , but the description was so good i didnt think there was any need to phone .
so i gave the guy a call to find out what happened , this is what pissed me off a bit , as basically people were phoning him up making silly offers for the van , he asked me did i phone yesturday , as today someone offered what he wanted , so its sold .
why didnt he just put make me an offer via phone ffs , not build peoples hopes up of winning the item , as the auction really didnt exist , or just as an ad to a phone deal
