Guys, do you know long 'wire' transfers take to transfer funds from one bank to a second.

HSBC takes 3 working days IIRC unless the recipient is with the same bank. You can pay extra to do it instantly though.

Generally 3 working days, or same day if between accounts at the same bank. I think 5 working days is the quoted maximum.

I have experienced differing timeframes depending on the bank. I am lloyds and most take a few days to get to me. if they are lloyds too then it is normally 1 business day (or sameday depending on time sent)

Different banks, different rules. Technically it has to be done within 4 working days, however Natwest receives payments in 2 days from other banks, HSBC is 3, Barclays is normally 4.

BACS is 3 working days
CHAPS is instant and non reversal (useful for car sales :) ), usually costs around £30

Depends on who sends it. A certain banned members account took months to clear into my account :)

Just FYI mate, I'd be very careful if you are sending payment for items bought on eBay using wire transfer. Even eBay advises against it. No way to prevent the other party walking off with your money and no way for you to prove that the money you sent them was in return for am item.

I just had to transfer £20k from the UK to my account in Rhodes. I went in the bank 13:30 on Friday and it was in the account at 09:12 this morning.
Cost me £30 for the faster service (and about £2k in crappy Euro rate)

Minutes from one LloydsTSB branch to another.
3 days from LloydsTSB to bank in Australia (£20 charge).
3 days from LloydsTSB to bank in Florida (£20 charge).

Cheers guys, there seems to be a variation in timelines but at least dispatching funds by wire transfer ensures delivery.
