Hi everyone, I am pleased to join you all as a proud owner of a 93Supra. At 38 I may, as some say, be going through a midlife crisis...... possibly, however, this has always been the car that gave me Goosebumps and I finally have one.

I have major plans for the inside and wondered if anyone has undertaken a similar project and in turn give me a few pointers. Please know at this point that I am not mechanically

minded.

Project part one....

My Supra is the Japanese import and as such has the 110mph dial

but has been de-restricted. What I would like to do is to replace

this gauge with the 180mph version.... Does anyone know how

difficult or expensive this is likely to be, or is the gearing

between the Jap to Euro version the same meaning a fairly straight forward switch?.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your experience

Jason

That's a good price... problem is I am waiting for some advice as to the difficulty of switching the Jap 120mph dial for the euro 180mph and the implications on the gearing etc, until I know this I can not order.

Welcome :D

If you have the 180 Kmh version then just fit a speedo fudger that adjusts the signal by the right amount to make it read up to 180 mph...... and put a sticker or vinyl lettering over the kmh to read Mph ;)

The Thor unit is good as it combines a speed delimiter with speedo converter & is tuneable to get the Mph exact.

This is how to fit it http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=112141

Other makes of speedo converters are available :)

As Kranz said, there is few speedo converters on the market, easy to install, Thor one suppose to be accurate, but others can be good too. My ss dials are showing up to 180 mph, even without speedo conversion you still can use them, speedo dial will just show in km/h :) There is no implication on gearing, speedo converter just converts speed signal to "slow down" speedo dial - gearbox still knows, how fast is car going ;)
