Envy are putting together a group buy on Porterfield pads.

SAVINGS UPTO 35% AVAILABLE

We'll be doing em at damn good prices. I'm putting together a list of prices to post up tommorow.

Looking for 10 orders to get maximum discount.

Available for UK/Jap cars, MK3s and 4s, Celica GT4s, MR2s etc etc

2 pad materials available in Carbon Kevlar

R4S fast road compound, for hard road use and some track use, will wear quickly on the track.

R4 race compound, for very hard road and track use, will NOT fade, fine for road use as well, very quick warm up.

We will also put a pack together with Stainless Steel Braided Goodridge hoses and Motul 5.1 fluid for a great price

Come on Gaz, it's Monday, wake up! :)

Can you give me the full prices for the Supra and MR2 please sir - I'll pass them on to the IMOC chaps for you and see if I can drum up some interest there in the hope that it brings the Supra prices down ;)

Still no word on the price for pads, SS lines & fluid?

These Supra pads are bleeding dear aren't they? I did the rear pads on the Mrs' Vectra last weekend for £21, and that was from Halfords!
I know a Vectra != Supra, but 3x the price? (not a criticism of Envy or anyone else, just a general comment)

lol

As you said, comparing the worlds poorest brake pads (made from recycled paper or something) for one of the worlds poorest cars - with one of the worlds best race spec pads for a supra.

BTW Halfords pads are absolute Junk, a friend of mine nearly died after fitting them.

Gaz

PS I'll post a price for the lines tommorow/in the morning as I dont have the list in front of me.

I'm sure you could find pads for the Supra for £21 if you looked hard enough, but supra brakes have to work a lot harder than Vectra brakes due to having a lot more energy to absorb on a regular basis! Therefore it makes sense to fit half-decent pads. Porterfields are a bit better than "half decent" by all accounts and may be unneccessary expenditure if don't do trackdays or drive like a complete hooligan on the roads.

Are these good for replacing standard J-spec pads? Do these things squeal?

Gaz Walker
17-11-03, 15:04
Just trying to get this going again, surely people need fast road pads for next year or extra stopping power for the winter?

What was I talking about!!! I meant these :

Jap Fronts (Fast Road Spec/RS4)

Are the race spec pads totally suitable for road use, ie instant warm up. Any squealing at all? Do they produce a lot of dust? Any idea on increased disc wear rate.

I definately need some pads but don't know whether to go for stock, fast road or race spec?

Will the fast road pads wear out quicker than stock pads? Also how do the fast road pads fare in the above questions?

Thanks in advance.

ps how soon could we get some?

All,

We've actually ordered the pads now for various applications.

If you want your name down for a set and are not just showing interest, please post below with name, brake type (uk/jap and front/rear) and spec (R4/RS4).

I knew I'd forgotten to do something, can't get to the wheels tonight but I'll get on the case tomorrow - they live 30 miles away from my house because I don't have room for all the car bits here unfortunately.

michael
26-11-03, 09:01
Two failures to report I'm afraid - still haven't had a chance to get the wheel centres and my brake disk source can't get us decent ones - the only non-OEM disks he can find are 'Ikuta' but he refuses to sell them because they are truly crap.

Sorry for the delay, with it being so dark and wet I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to leave the house at night ;)

Paul

What a let down  ;)
Don't worry about it mate, the centres can wait, just don't forget again:D
As for the discs, I wouldn't put any old shite on and totally agree that if these are suspect then we'll leave them.

Cheers for trying anyway
