vvti tiptronic

Hi there people,im on the verge of buying a 98TT tiptronic.could anyboby tell me if there any common problems with the tiptronic gearbox or the vvti engine? Any info. about the gbox particularly would be really helpful. Thanks

Not that I'm aware. (I own one)

Only issues are with speed delimiting. There is no satisfactory way to do it on the VVTi Tip - the problem is it'll attempt to kick down a gear if you full throttle over 130mph... consider it doing that at 150+ and it's not good for the box.

You shouldn't be doing those speeds anyway except on a track, but if you're tracking it you're better off with a 6spd.
