I have checked the Club suggestions section and nothing, so .....

Leading on from the variable cameras thread tonight...

Would a section for speed cameras, mobile units, roadworks etc etc be considered?

Could also contain unmarked cars? Hotspots etc

As long as posters have the area in the title to make it better to indentify cameras etc in their area.

Have it in Members section.

For the princely sum of £19 a year, you get all that at www.pocketgpsworld.com... :)

Example of their map here.

You can get the camera locations, but i like the unmarked car list idea. I had the pleasure of being followed and pulled by an audi quattro 4.2. Luckily i was in my audi a4 at the time so i didn't try it on too much.

There are already plenty of sites dedicated to such things.

There are, however a lot of people spend a lot of time on here so could be seen a benefit without having to sign up to other sites. (some maybe non sign up)

You have a point, perhaps you could also implement online shopping too so I don't have to go to Tesco online to do my weekly shop.

As usual your comments go off topic and silly. If you do not agree with the suggestion, then move on to the next thread. If the Mods rubbish the idea then at least the idea has been suggested.

And as usual the slightly less "able" members of the community are unable to see the difference between a discussion about something and an attack. I mentioned Tesco because I thought I'd put it into simple terms you might be able to grasp, clearly I missed the target and should have used the Teletubbies instead.

Where does it say that we can only reply if we think this is a good idea? Why shouldn't the community as a whole be able to discuss this?

It's a Supra forum, not a one stop portal to everything you could ever wish for.

Anyway back on topic.

So you aren't willing to discuss this?

Or are you unable to?

Oooh yes it would be handy not to have to go to the bbc news website to looks for news items too. Can we have a world news section too?

It's not a bad idea, but as michael says other sites are doing this and are much more mature.
The site I mentioned above has just under 7000 cameras in their database, all verified and split into speed zoned + lots of other versions.
It's just much more mature, it prob started as this would (and was free), but now it's all but a full time job for the admins of that site.

The database would need to be converted into the different GPS solutions out there, kept up to date and more importantly ensure it's accurate...

Maybe the club could look into getting a club sub with that site.

http://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/ uses the pocketGPSWorld data files I believe.

I think accumulating enough data to make it worth while, and keeping that data up-to-date, goes beyond what would be achievable here. We might be able to hook into another site and display their data within ours and with a a nice easy to use interface, but that could require a lot of work.

Many people on here surely already use GPS Sat Nav with speed limit/hotspot notification, which is updatable.

As for unmarked cars, who knows where they'll be?
