focal 165 v1

now then, i'm in the market for some front speaker upgrade's, i've been lookin at the focal 165 v1's. £175 at my local ice shop, is this too expensive? i've done a search on tinternet for em but dont seem to get anywhere. any help would be very helpfull.

As far as I remember there are different models. 165 refers to the size = 16.5cm.
There's the 165CA which is the coaxial (non component, tweeter built into the main mid speaker) about £110, there's the K2 Power 165 K2P (2-part component (tweeter/mid)) for about £300, the 165 K3P (3-part component (tweeter, mid, lowmid whatever)) for more dosh etc.

Then there's all the other ranges I don't know about.. Utopia Be, Polyglass etc.

thamks for that matey. i went in to the local ice shop and going to get the k2 component one's for £250 which is 100 pounds cheaper so happy days

Actually, the K2 power series is affected throught the 165 KP, as well as the 165 V2 from the Polyglass series. The obvious first evidence for the 165 KP is the serial number, which is 15B002196, when the 165 V2 is labelled with the 25B024313 serial number.

thanks for the warning but think these r from a respectable dealer, as i have had an alarm and ice from them before

I think judging by the pictures that I found it's the old ones that have been cloned anyway. The new/current (not new, had mine for at least 2 years already) have the non-moving aluminium dome in the middle, whereas the old ones in the picture that I found have a black dome like regular speakers.

Had a set of focal k2p's in my last motor, competition built SPL and SQ Car
The focal's are unreal, some sweet sweet sound from them
Well worth every penny, cost me 630 euros for them here.
