Hello
Thought I may as well join up on this site as currently considering selling my 2001 2dr Mk1 slightly modified Ford Focus and purchasing a Toyota Supra.
I've been looking on autotrader.com for quite a while and can only say I do like what I see. Esoecially after having had a quote on insurance for £300, whereas a Nissan Skyline was well over £1k!!
I know all you guys will say do it, but I'm looking for advice and also if 3litre Supras DO in fact have a heavy impact on the petrol budget!!
Thanks
:welcome:
you will see quite a difference in fuel consumption compared to your focus. I never get much more than 22mpg most of the time around 18mpg
Welcome mate
I would check that your quote for insurance is definitely for a mkiv supra and not a mkiii.
Also, there can be differences between a UK car and jspec cars where insurance is concerned (though this depends on the insurer now i think)

Welcome mate, I studied in Glasgow :)
Welcome.
Do it, you know you want to ;)
Welcome mate, I would fully recommend supras.
A UK supra quote for me was £430 and j-spec was £915 so be aware of that before you buy, fuel costs are high too as mentioned by Ian about 18 mpg

welcome!! depends on how much driving you do, i do around 2k in the supra (15-25mpg) and 10k in my runaround (40-50mpg) it works out cheaper doing this in the long run if you cover larger miles (insurance/tax etc included)

I'm just amazed at your insurance quote for living in Glasgow! I live in the sticks and thought my price of £600 was pretty good!

If its for specialised, import cars its always best calling up as the online ones will have a limited database.
The following are always who I find give the lowest and comparable prices.

You have to remember fella that the cars are now anything up to 15 years old. You are going to struggle to get a "genuine" low mileage example.
I would definitely look at higher mileage cars providing that there was evidence of service and TLC.

Going back to your first post, I've got a skyline and a supra and the supra wins hands down for me. The dashboard points at me and nobody else, the passenger seat isn't electrically adjustable but the drivers is, the rear leg room is 1 1/2 "..... it's a car for the driver, anyone else is an after thought.
you can buy mines man, once its had full service etc, stay in cumbernauld village! you not seen me around?

No not seen you!
Whats on the clock?
I'd need to find a buyer for my focus first, then its a bit complicated, private reg and all
welcome to the club, mate.
hope we'll see you at some meets, if you get your soop.
cheers
