thanks to Toyota GT for using a spot on MOT bloke, who knows the MOT regs! I now do not need to put my Cat on for the emmisons test, saying that, my car did fail on a tyre and a bulb :D 10 days to sort it

Si

Hold on,

You are aware that you have 10 days to sort it for a re-test, your car isn't currently MOTt'ed though and isn't legally allowed on the road.

as long as you carry the MOT failure cert and book it in you can, otherwise how do you drive back for the retest ;)

It is if the last certificate hasn't expired yet ;)

Not, if you have had a retest and it has failed, then the MOT is a failure REGARDLESS of previous certificate.

Nope, not as far as I have been informed. An MOT is strictly speaking only valid during the test. Once the car is driven off site, yes the certificate is valid, HOWEVER if you get pulled over and you have a fault that would normally be an MOT failure they can regard your car as not having an MOT. These-by-the road MOT testings by the police can declare your car as an MOT failure.

Yes, you are allowed to drive it to a pre-arranged MOT retest, however I wouldn't risk driving it around with just a failure certificate.

Just be careful ;)

Remember ANPR can pick up MOT failures... take your own chances.
