We visited there today after a phone call to them this morning.

On the phone the guy I spoke to said the Supra I was interested in (RZ for £4999 on auto trader in white.) Had 77k miles on it and a shabby interior. I told him we would be there late afternoon for him to have a look at my FTO and for me to test the car, then maybe we could do a deal.

So we drove the 2 hours to get there.

Once there the car would not start as they had robbed part of the ignition system to fix another Supra they had.

Once they replaced that I was told I could hear it running. I turned on the ignition and it fired first time. Good start I thought.

Whats this though 180k KM on the clock. hhmm about 112k miles, a tad more than the 77k they said it had before my drive down.

I asked him about what he would give for my car. 3k he said. I told him he could have it for that minus the alloys and I'd put the mitsi wheels back on. He said that was no good. I advised him of the quality of the FTOs he had on show for 4k. He said they would go first as they were the faster GPX version and mine was just a GR.

Strange look crossed his face when I advised him mine was a GPX also. Wonder if it would have been a better sales format to actually ask me about my car before he said a price.
Anyway he would not budge from the price we would give for my car. So for future note GPX, GR, Modded or non modded you wont get any more for your car YAY them!!

Anyway I continued. Don’t ask me why, it seemed like a good idea at the time!

After much insistence I got to drive it!!
For about 500 yards,
Down a single track road,
In the industrial estate next to them.
Hardly the test drive I would have wanted. They said I could go no further as it had no fuel.

Told them to put some it DUH!! Again, NO coz it wasn’t taxed. So put trade plates on DUH!! Again, NO 'coz we don’t have any here' I was told.
But you can pay the deposit and come drive it another time. They said
Another 4 hour round trip for a test drive AFTER paying a deposit. When they were fully aware I wanted to fully test the car today.

I asked if the car would be in full UK spec by then, e.g. reading MPH. Oh no, they don’t do that he said. Thats extra £97 to be exact

At this point I began to search for that nice Mr Beadle chap :search:

I could go into the finer points of my visit there however I think this post is long enough.

In essence. I like to check places out for myself before I make my opinion.
Alas all that has been said about this fine trading establishment would appear to be true.

Fingers crossed for my FTO on autotrader then :D

OH and I forgot. It had a new front slam panel thingy, the bit with the bonnet catch in it.

I asked them about this but they said it was original. No respray or repair there. That over spray and immaculately clean front panel must be fairy dust then.

Because if you do a search on autotrader like I've been doing today, a few of their cars pop up at seemingly decent prices, and the pictures make the cars look really quite nice - and worth the trip to see them in person.....

Of course, if you don't know of their reputation or are not on these forums (or others for that matter) you'll not know to avoid them :(

Just came across this post although a bit late for myself.

I live in Belfast as u can tell from my location.lol

But i was looking at a few cars from this establishment and decided to go take a look, so flew out on the 12th dec.

I literally fell in love with one of the cars 95 twin turbo supra(white)

So went in a test drive on the 13th,like the first post, around the industrail estate next door, car seemed pretty gd to me

So I paid for the car, filled it up with petrol and was driving it to stranrear that day to bring it home.................Well i got as far as dumfries when the car broke down

The half shalf was not tightened apparantly and it slipped and hit the diff and broke the plate of it.Which i only found out later on when i got it back to Belfast.

I rang shack(not sure of the spelling), the guy that sold me the car and he basically said he only made £250 profit on the car as I had already bargained him down in price, bull I thought...

So after paying £225 to get towed to stranrear, then looking for a diff, which turned out to be the wrong one, I think I have now got the proper part, which was more expense, but still tonight the car is still in the garage awaiting part, more than a month after I purchased it and he thinks that I am only gonna take his £250...Well he may think again

I intend to get all the money back that I have lost out on the car and thanks to this thread can now also warn people TO STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.........

There are at least 5 or 10 threads on this company on here, and many more on other forums, im amazed people still even go.

And as for buying a car then carrying on with a busted diff 'cos he didnt make much', thats a bit daft to be fair! Take the nail back, cos if the diff bust, then more will be following very soon.

Well I had no option but to carry on,otherwise my 11yr old son and I would have been stranded.

And he told me about only making that much money after i phoned him telling him i had broke down and wanted compinsated...

Got a Impreza STI from A1 Performance @ tyneside autopark .. they are not bad , still needed to replace the clutch like £600 !!! but hey... i still fancy a supra like but the wife wants me to keep the scooby until august... i have only had it 4 months!!;)

Got the car to marty and have major prob with the gears, gear selector and syncro meshes gone and possibly need 1st and 3rd gear replaced at £350 each:eyebrows:

Intercooler also needs fixed and recons thats why second turbo not kicking in, there is quite a large hole in it.

Also rear wheel bearing also ball joint in front, plus rad is too small and out of a n/a

So looks like gonna go to a lot of expense to get it fixed, well thats if i dont give it back keighley, but getting a quote for expenses from marty and giving it to my solicitor,so will see what happens

Good luck with getting this sorted, you really cant trust some car sales places and have to do youre own investigation as to just how good a particular car is.

I almost bought an Audi from a main dealer the other day until i saw the car round the back getting tarted up, wasnt in great shape and getting all the bullshit you can think of. advertised as mint low mileage blah blah blah

Also when checking,, check if things have actually been done, cambelt was changed in the service book, but it hadnt actually been done on the car !!!

Be very wary when buying cars and pretend there all Arfa Dailys that are trying to sell them to you.

Mike B
13-02-08, 09:33
Sorry to hear, hope you manage to nail them to the wall.

I went twice and walked away. Their mannor was enough to give me the heebies before I even saw a car; and that was 6 years ago...

I would have thought most of their cars go to physchotic chavs, so I'm really suprised the place hasn't "accidently burned down" yet, or the staff met with inexplicable accidents falling onto chav trainers.

Nice place to work I guess.

So this is basically stopping any further damage being done.

Saw this thread and had to read it, new to the forums but i know these guys well or should i say their reputation, i went there about 2 years ago to check out a UK gtr34 guy said it was perfect yet wouldnt give me the reg over the phone went up to check it out lifted the hood, checked the front arches and immediatly i had alarm bells of nearside damage asked the a-hole about it but said it was all original and as it came out te factory, went back home told him i would call him the next day after i hpi/rac check the car, he said he has checks for all his cars so i humoured him and gave it a look funny enough the check was clear but still when ya dropping 25k plus on a motor id rather check it myself, anyway got home did the rac check it had been an insurance write off not once but practically twice one of the second insurance markers was only 5months before i went to look at it!

To describe this place in less than 5 words its a "Chop shops wet dream" although i will give them one thing on a positive note they can bloody well do a dam good advetisement they make their cars look the equivlant of the playboy bunnies, think they airbrush their stock just as much as well.

Anyways good look girlracer do us all a favour and get them shut down - we can only hope.

when i was buying my supe i asked about kneighley cars and i near got punched for even mentioning there name lol

personally i would burn the place to the ground if i got stroked, hope you get it sorted

i also agree that no one should buy a car from this place, i've been there and had a look around and the service and almost all the cars are shocking... but my mate did buy a R32 skyline GTR at a very cheap price (he had no idea about there reputation) and it's also been a dream.. but this, as always is fluke..

someone shold round up all the links about this trader on all the various forums and sites and send them to watchdog or something, they shouldn't be alloud to get away with this :(

he actually went there for an R32 GTR, drove it and said it was a bag of shit. It appears that the odd good one is backed up by 99 crap ones.

to be honest anyone that buys anything from keighley ts&p not only wants their heads looking at, but sectioning as well. i know one of the guys behind it from a long time ago and they buy nothing but dog turd and try to dress it up with silicone spray...

stay well clear. you could put john wayne and clint eastwood togehter, and they wouldn't have a patch on how much these guys are cowboys

I saw this supra on the car dealers website : http://www.k-t-c.co.uk.

And it looked very good. So I talked with him on the phone, and everything looked as promissed.
And I asked him about the engine, because it is very importnant to me, but every time he interupted me and said everything is 100% fine. And no problems at all.

So I told him that I would come this sunday and buy the car. And I asked him many times what time he opened, because it was importnant for me to schedule my trip, as I had to take the ferry back to denmark the same evening. He kept on saying that he will open at 9.00 am. That was good for me because then i had good time to take a look at the car.

So i travelled all the way from denmark to manchester, and took the bus to bradford and stayed there til sunday morning. And that morning i took the cap to keighley, so i was there 9.00 am. It was closed!
So we tried o call, but nobody answered the phone. So i paid the cap 22pounds, and waited in the rain for almost 3 hours.
And after that he came in a Evo7, and i was a little bit frusterated, and he blamed me for coming too early and kept on saying that he had told me that he would be there at 11 am. And when i told him ok, but its 12, he just laughed.

So I didnt get a chance to look at the car proberply, because i was in a rush.
Then he told me that some of the paperwork ( DVLA ) was not done yet. He promissed to send me tuesday 29.04.08.

Now i am in denmark with a supra, which is starting to give me problems. Sometimes the turbo doesnt connects ect ect.

I am afraid that it will cost me alot of money. Its a shame that I didnt discover this supra-club earlier, so i could read about this cheating car-dealer. But I just discovered this place a couple of days before I came to England, and had no time to read everything here.

Really sorry to hear your story. In all honesty hindsight is a wonderful thing, but what is done is done and you have to make the best of things.

I have the personal details of the owner/s if that would be of any help in you getting this put right. PM me as I don't think the mods would approve of me posting such things on an open forum.

Hope you get this sorted out, as they give jap car dealers a bloddy bad name :(

Simple really my friend. Human beings (and more especially car buyers) are always looking for the cheapest "bargain" and the best "deal". As long as there are these type of people out there, then traders like Keighley will have a market.

Hi I just read this and c that you are in the same situation that i am in. And im really sorry that someone else has fell for this company, although when i purchased my car i was in the same situation as yourslef and found this site after i had already bought the car

Have you registered a complaint with trading standars????

The problem with my turbo was that there was a hole in my intercooler, this also might be the case with ur's so its worth checking that out.

Im sure a joint submission of complaints from a few owners club sites could get them on the telly :p

Edit - They have a black R35 for sale as well, for sale now apparently. 3rd down
Pictures are at there garage aswell...

if anyone really does wanna look at one of these cars without actually looking i pass the place twice a day. its not actually in keighley its in cross hills just outside.

The guy that owns that gaff also owns two other forecourts in keighley selling 4x4's and "standard" cars, i wouldnt buy from either of those either, not sure how he makes a living as most of the cars appear to have been driven from japan let alone imported. I was there last week taking a lunchtime nosey around for the crack of it, they were having trouble starting up some skyline or another (at least some old asian dude had a battery pack on it) anyways he got it started and set off. As i was leaving 10 mins later i found he had got no further than about 400 yards and had broken down around the corner :P

I did nearly purchase an FTO from there once however the car in question was not imported by them and had been traded in by some poor fto owners club member and even yesterday i saw pics of it on their forum so thats the one and only good car i know of to come out of that place.
