its now time to install a complete new system into my little project house and had one quote so far which came in at £4560. i thought it was a bit much tbh especially when the breakdown showed the cost of instaling a bathroom (labour only) came in at £590. anyhows anyone on here had similar work done recently and how much did it set you back?

Lui is a plumber and bathroom fitter, but might only be able to advise on costs as he certainly won't take on work that far from home.

I'd say it may be on the higher side but not a million miles away from what you should expect i'm afraid.

"project house" is this being built at the moment?

Are the floorboards down etc as this will dictate labour costs?

You could do it yourself and then get someone in to connect the gas. ;)

I was told that I could expect to pay at least £4000 for having central heating installed by a local trustworthy plumber so it sounds about right to me

its more or less a shell. all the floor boards will be taken up by myself

lmao, those sound like British Gas prices..... and i work for them.
if it was me id be charging you approx 3k for a decent combi, 9 rads and all pipework and labour.
Rads nowdays are cheap as chips, copper well price fluctuates to be fair, sometimes 6quid a meter for 22mm, hoswever oeverall system price could drop if using plastic pipe (hep, barrier etc) to roughly 2quid a meter for 22mm

What boiler did they include.

not sure which boiler they suggested altho ive got two plumbers from work having a look at the job on the weekend and to give me one of their ''special'' quotes. they reckon they could knock at least £1500 of the price.

sounds way to much to me, personaly i would charge with a decent boiler (baxi / valiant) £2800, and if it is a 1 in 1 out bath room about £300, u really do need to ind out what boiler they are useing because theres a vast difference in the price and quality!

Hi mate I usually take £350 for a bathroom suite inc shower and roughly £1200 for a heating system like yours, that includes me sourcing the fittings. So I would definitely hold out for a cheaper price.

I would think the heating system could be supplied and fitted for around £2500 depending where you buy it from. Some merchants do good discounts.
