I remember going 2 ish years ago, was a good day, if a little wet!
Could be up for this one, how do you mean no top speed runs??

I think he means there will be know 1.25 mile top speed trap.
The top cars at TOTB are reaching 200mph, so maybe they don't have the correct safety on tap as there is with a big event like TOTB, maybe

they used to run the whole length of the runway with a speed trap at some point partway down for you to try & clock your top speed - they now have individual top speed events which are seperate to the 1/4 mile ones - they do it for bikes mainly now

yay! today was the first day where it was sunny all day & the roads were bone dry on the way home - i've spent all winter losing traction away from the lights near work and today it gripped like a mo-fo :d
might well tag along for this :D
Yep im up for this...bpu power though:(wish i had the single:(
Where is the official event calender for Elvington, as I can not find anything on this event?
I need to know what clothing they require you to where, do you need to bring insurance documents with your license and how much entry is, plus price to run..and finally, can you rent a helmet and how much??
I found an address on another forum, which was:
Elvington Airfield
Halifax Way,
Elvington
YO4 5AU
Is this correct?
Thanks :D
That's the right address yes.
I think that the only real requirement is a helmet if your terminal speed is over 100 mph.
I'm not certain though.

OK thanks.
Does anyone have prices at all?
Best person for information would be Wez_P. He's been for the last couple of years.

May come down for this so we can check tyre choices for TOTB.
Gaz.
Good point - what is thought to be the best based on previous years on the concrete 888s / ET radials etc ?

Both of them seemed to work, the MR2 guys seem to really like the 888's but I don't think they worked as well on the Supra.

That is a different strip.
Sorry try this link

or this

Try http://www.straightliners.co.uk
Chances are it will be £40 or £45 per car, maybe £5 to get in on top of that. You'll need your licence, no need for insurance cert, no helmet hire, long sleeved top required.
I think that's about it.
So if I have no helmet I can not run? :(
And the events calender shows no event on the 23rd of March?

Nope, unless someone lends you one or you pop out and buy one in advance. It's a useful thing to have for trackdays and other events and you can pick them up for £30 or so.
Pop down to a local bike shop and see what they have.

They aren't the best at updating websites and things but I presume Wez got one of their emails about this date.
got the date from the www.straightliners.co.uk site here http://www.straightliners.co.uk/community/showthread.php?t=380 (post number 3)
the Straightliners events are for the official times etc if you want to compete, the 23rd March is a RWYB event that is open to everyone :)
you'll definitely need a helmet as you will be hitting over 100mph by the end of the strip, it's usually £45 to race plus £5 entry but i'm sure they were talking about putting the prices up this year. you'll need your full driving license and it usually starts about 9am ish but you can turn up anytime, you'll just miss the drivers briefing at the start
there's usually nothing like the number of people that go to Santa Pod RWYB days so the queues are minimal if at all!
highly recommended :D
Thanks for all the info guys.
gutted does not come close... i've just realised i'm away for that weekend so can't make it
hi all is there a meeting point to convoy down or is meet at the strip hope to see u all there

Now my torque converter has arrived and Michel Lane is fitting it I understand you are scared going up against an NA on the 1/4 mile young man!! (Anyone else fancy it?)
Sorry you are not coming along, but hope to meet and race over coming year.

i've eaten singles & hybrids down the ol' strip old man ;)
nah in all seriousness, i'm gutted. this is one of the things i look forward to with the Supra & Elvington is sooo much closer than Santa Pod & alot less busy!
the south of France will hopefully make it a little more bearable
Now that Wez thought of a excuse, who from the NW is heading to Elvington. Come on guys, it is a great day out. It could be a massive full day Supra meet. Much more relaxing than Santa Pod, and a big laugh if we can get enough Supras there. Lets see some action and support. :p:p
Il be going but im going on monday, its £10 entry per person and an extra £30 to race. Weather is supposed to be good on monday and its also the 1st race of the 2NZ series which is always a good day with lots of quick cars! Racing starts at 10pm, all info is on www.york-raceway.co.uk. So whos going then?
weather looks a bit ropey for tommorow:(
Yeah thats why im going on monday, weather is supposed to be good according to the bbc website.
Aldi are doing cheap lids, be ok in a car.

what the hell is the post code for the strip??YO4 5AU thats comming up not in use
YO41 4AU got it
Anyone going to York raceway tomorrow then?BBC website says it'll be dry.
I think i'll be going.
it never is dry lol as all the crap and mud of the field you have to go across goes straight onto the strip
It was quite a good day in the end, had a bit of snow at about 1.30pm but only lasted 5mins and the track dried up nicely once they had swept it! managed to get a 14.8 in my NA which I was well happy with - considering it is standard apart from the backbox! There was a white supra TT there, very nice, was it anyones off here?
