Im in the process of hiding an amp under the passenger. However I have run into a slight problem, the amp I have is slightly too tall and catch's the spring and ajustment system, not much but enough to hinder the movement of the seat.

I have a couple of options.

*Raise the passenger seat at the rear mounting points a few mm. I have tested it with 3 washers inbetween the mounting hole and the frame and there is now enough room.

*Chop the carpet up, I know its not thick but cutting an area the size of the amp will allow me to stick it stright to the chasis. How thick is the carpet?

*Combo of them both should the carpet not be thick enough.

*Mount the amp in the foam tool holders in the boot. Will it get hot under the stock carpet?

*Another way?

Your thoughts please.

When i had an amp under my passenger seat i just cut a flap in the carpet to the size of the amp and folded it underneath out of the way. That way you don't have a big hole out of the carpet. The carpet is a few mm thick so it may ive you the clearance you need.

What a 'flapping' good idea!

The only issue I can see with hiding an amp in such a confined space is air flow, amps do tend to get rather hot when used for long periods. If possible find or use an amp that has a built in cooling fan. Prob wont be a maybe issue, just something to think about.

I ran into the same problem, the springs were just catching the amp so in the end i put it in the boot in place of the autochanger, snug fit and you wouldnt know its there unless you peeled back the carpet.

Just inside the boot, on passenger side.

Thanks guys. Made a flap in the end, there is a good 10mm of padding and carpet in that spot, I was quite supprised.

Long shot this one, but I was wiring everything up everything was connected except the power lead. I was connecting it (live, I know bad practice :() and it was sparking like a good un, there was a small pop sound and then it started smoking inside, didnt smell too great either! I whipped it out and after about 2 minuites the smoke stopped, I have wired it all back up and it seems to be ok. Any thoughts?
