I was speaking with my friends and they were saying you would get a better take off if i held the brake down built up my revs and then let rip. Would my gearbox take this stress or is it a no no.

Its not really very good for the box buts its what most people do on the drag strip. Your box has a stall of about 2200 rpm so building the power up to 2000rpm then taking your foot off the brake and flooring it would have better results! Remember though its also a really good way to kill your gearbox ;)

I wount be ripping the s**t out the box more for emergencies only. Such as last year had a race against a z06 corvette he had about 440hp where his v8 produced good torque at low revs he got about 3cars lengths on me till i got into my power range then we stayed in our postions till top speed.
