Hi everyone i'm Jonny i'm 25 from Essex, i just joined the club but i am still on the search of my first supra !

I'm a security officer but before that i worked in a warehouse which was a pretty ok job as it was allot of outside working in the sun or rain and i like all kinds of weather. One day out boss said we are going to start unloading containers for vaxhaul, they are new cars to be sold in the u.k. We said cool but he did't tell us what cars they were. 3 weeks later a container turned up and we opened it up and our eyes went wide and our mouths dropped...they were Monaro's !

Since that day we imported about 20-30 containers a week each with 2 monaro's in including Vxr's, i had no driving licence and had never driven a car at the time so i learned to drive in a 6 litre muscle car lol, hence my lock of american muscle.

Anyway thats enough boring you about me hehe, I am looknig for a none turbo preferably standard and auto within the £2500 - £3500 range.

I'm into cars in a big way but mainly American Muscle, i know very little about supra's but a friend of mine runs Redline imports and he let me take one of his supras for a test drive and oh my god!!

I loved it instantly and now i want nothing else other than my own supra ! I would buy one from my mate but he usually gets them for around the 8-14k mark and thats waaay to much for me .....

So i would really apretiate any insights and help from some experienced supra owners as to what exactly i'm looking for ...model etc..

I'm from Essex so the more local the better i have no waiting time for the money i have it on hand so if i see one i like i will buy it on the spot ^^.

Theres a club member selling a really nice looking black supra with gold wheels in Kent but i cannot reply to his post, not sure why.

But anyhow thanks for your time and i hope i find a supra soon and i look forward to getting to know you all and my supra when i get it ^^

Take care

Jonny.

I'm in Tilbury mate.

The one he took me out in was a supra tt that he had up for £12k

But i'm 25 and i can't afford that much hehe, thanks for the warning though but i think a none turbo is best for now i can allways get a tt in a couple of years hehe ^^

Hehe i would jump at the chance of being able to afford 6k for a car atm but the only way that would happen is it i saved up for about 6 months and i'm not that patient ^^

And a tt for me personally i might not even get insured on it...i've only been driving for just over a year i have 1 years no claims my insurance on a non turbo was very high a tt would be astranomical for me :(

I'm afraid i'm going to have to start out small

You may be surprised - most insurers charge a higher premium for the NA.

I wouldn't expect a decent quote given your short driving history but that should apply to NA or TT

Hehe thanks mate, i just had a look at that it looks ok in the photos but theres 2 things i'm concerned about ...

Hehe yeah i will be paying a bomb no matter what i get its just i simply cannot afford the money to buy a nice tt :( plus my first and only car to date has been an escort 1.6...i think jumping from that to a supra tt would be dangerous i'd probably crash it lol...even though i'm a carefull driver hehe

haha i just checked insurance for me on an NA both uk and j spec and a tt both uk and j spec...

Supra NA uk - £2800

Supra NA jspec - £3800

Supra TT uk - £3900

Supra tt jspec - £3900

Very expensive as i knew maybe i'm using the wrong insurance search engine but the na jspec is 1k more for being an import the tt is the same as an na import !....where do they get these numbers from....

Ok i find myself in dire need to find a cheaper insurer any ideas please? £2800 for a uk na i can live with but am i going to be able to find a uk NA for £3500?

EEK. There are 21 year old members here being quoted half that.

Try Sky Insurance, Adrian Flux, Elephant.

Good luck and welcome to the club. :)

Cheers mate i'll give those a ring asap.

I think those 21 year old drivers probably have 3-4 years no claims.....i'm 25 and i got my licence at 24.....kind of anoying i'm a sensible driver not a boy racer as insurance companies "asume" all young people are.....which i find stupid....

But i will get my supra ! ^^ from the looks of it i htink i am better off after all saving that little bit extra and getting a tt...

If NA's are only imports thats just as much as a tt to insure....oh well i'm sure it will all work out in the end hehe ^^

Thanks for the welcome

Haha my bad i guess confussed.com don't know that either then lol.....

Confused is an ok starting point, but none of the serious insurance companies most people on here use will be used by them, apart from Elephant. Try Sky, Adrian Flux, AON, Greenlight, Bell....

From the quotes you've posted up...

Supra NA uk - £2800

Supra NA jspec - £3800

Supra TT uk - £3900

Supra tt jspec - £3900

I'd say the "NA UK" was the "UK" quote. There was only one model of UK spec (TT with all the mod cons, aircon as standard, leather interior, different rear lights, headlight washers, steel turbos not ceramic....), when filling in online forms you're looking for "Supra Turbo" or "Supra Turbo Auto". Anything else is an import.

The other 3 are probably for imports of different specs (SZ, SZ-R, RZ, RZ-S, GZ....think that's it), as NAs and TT imports always seem to return similar quotes.

And don't forget to play insurance companies off each other. I haggled 30% off my initial quote by going back and forth getting them to outquote one another :D
