These bulbs are what you need to improve the Supra's poor Standard lighting. I have the dip and main beam bulbs in stock. They look really trick too, giving a nice white light that simulates the HID effect.

Here are the specs:

Safety, Comfort and Simply Beautiful.

Distinctive daylight from blue lamp
The daylight temperature stimulates the driver concentration making night time driving safer.
A unique blue filter creates the distinctive blue filter
UV blocked-compatible with plastic headlight lenses components
Quartz glass construction for ultimate performance
EC37 approved for use in Europe
Completely interchangeable with existing lamps
9005/9006 fully approved for US market.

Blue Vision replicates the HID High Intensity Gas Discharge System fitted as standard to more and more of today's prestige and performance cars.
The lamps recreate daylight driving conditions at night therefore contributing to safety and performance.

Suitable for all weather conditions with added visual comfort
Enhancing driving concentration during driving at night time
C haracteristics: blue multi-layer, filled with halogen and xenon gas, thinner filaments.

Wahey! Who'd of thunk it? :)

How much Kev? And do they fit a J-spec? I bought a replacement bulb from Halfords the other day, but it doesn't bloody fit.. it's currently blu-tacked into the car (I really needed to get somewhere at night.. I tried cutting the prongs down to size but that didn't work, and now I can't return it:)), so I need me some lights.. (no I've not done any night driving since doing my little hack).

Also, what colour temperature are they?

Cheers

How much for the dipped beams only?

How much for the full set?

Actually.. as none of the lights have pricing on your website :)

How much are all of them? I want the brightest/best headlights that I can get, preferably without spending much ;) Which are the best value, and which are the best lights?

I'd love to buy some HID stuff at the moment, but I simply cannot afford 500+ for lights at this point in time.

Hi Guys, sorry for not posting the price! They are £24.50 ex VAT for both main and dip application.

The bulbs do fit the J spec cars but they need to be modified slightly, there are quite a few people on this BBS who have fitted them in the past.

I am not meant to discount Philips products but as an Introductory offer I will do free delivery in the Mainland UK or 5% off the product if they are ordered with other goods.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Pulse, the Philips Premium (30% increase in light) probably offer slightly better night vision than the Philips blue vision but they don't have the trick Blue xenon effect white light:) I can get those to if you prefer.

Thanks

Kevin

Cheers Kev.

I'd prefer function over form for headlights at the moment, when I have some money I'll buy some HID's for the HID effect ;) How much are the 30% and 50% Phillips ones? How do the 'blue' ones compare to stock bulbs in brightness? Oh, and what's the expected shipping time for any of these? I need them sooner rather than later (ie, will probably order some today.. I simpyl cannot justify 250-500 quid for HID's at the moment).

Thanks

Hi Pulse, I can have the Blue vision to you by Monday and the Premium vision to you by Tuesday they are the same price.

Blue vision are significantly better than the stock bulbs and give a a whiter light that improves vision. The Premium bulbs will give you an increased range of light over the Blue vision so you will be able to see further.

Unfortunatly the Philips 50% bulbs don't come in a Supra fitment.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Kevin

The Phillips Vision Plus (the premium ones!) are flipping superb, I had them on my scoob and couldn't believe the difference they made to its crap lights! :)

Looked at the ones in my JSpec the other day - they are PIAA - is that normal, or have they been replaced? They aren't bad I have to say!

Hi Kev,

Just one more thing - are they £24.50 each bulb, or for a pair of lights? I suspect I'll be ordering them with a cold air box (polished).

Thanks

PIAA are very good and very expensive - about £60+ (starts at ;) )

Just FYI guys, I think there's something wrong with my blue vision bulbs.

Last night I was driving down a dark, unlit road, and .. I COULD SEE WHERE I WAS GOING!!

Being able to actually see oncoming obstacles scares me a little, so I ended up turning my lights off. That made me feel safe!

Seriously though ;) Buy some, they're bloody good. I couldn't believe the difference over the stock bulbs. I'm sure they're not as good as an HID system etc, but the difference really did take me by surprise, and they're a shitload cheaper than HID. Very happy :)

Mmm I'm tempted to buy a set of high and low beam in the premium bulb - are they the £24.50 +VAT ones or did that price apply to the blue ones? (or both?)

Can you get uprated bulbs for the fog lights too?

Cheers

I've only got blue vision driving lights atm, the high beams should be arriving this week. I believe it's the same price for the blue vision as the premium vision.

Dunno about fogs :)

Foglight bulbs are also available and there quite a bit cheaper than the other two applications. :)

I can get the premium bulbs for the same price.

Out of interest what fitments does the Supra use for it's bulbs?

As in 'H4' / '9005' etc....

My handbook is still in a box somewhere from the house move and I'm being lazy :)

Gaz Walker

OK dokey :)

24.50 for main / or dipped bulbs PER SET. So both is 49 quid.

Fogs are 22.90 PER SET.

Paypal address is: paypal@envyperformance.com

Make sure you let us know if your UK or J-spec and your name, number and address.

FREE DELIVERY TILL END OF MONTH :)

Kevins worked them out, I'm sure he'll drop a line later. Its depends on the spec UK or J and type. Main and dipped are the same, fogs are different.

Probably worth noting you'll need to hack off a bit at the base of the light if you have a J-spec to make it go into the hole properly (read: at all). 2 of the 3 'prongs' are slightly smaller on the J-spec bulbs, but it's just plastic and it's pretty easy to do. Just compare it to the bulb you take out and you'll see what I mean.

Just don't do it with a sharp, serated knife after you've just spent 32 hours on a plane.

1 week on, and my finger still hasn't healed properly. (goes around half a centimeter into my finger, whee) :D

Unless I got sent UK-spec lights?

For reference this is what my UK manual says about bulbs:

Headlights (Low) - 51W - HB4
Headlights (High) - 60W - HB3
Front Fog Lights - 55W - H3

From what I can see the HB4 is the equivalent of the 9006 and the HB3 is the 9005.

I suspect I'll go for the Philips Blue Vision and the Philips Rallye in a H3 for the foglamps so I have a 100W light in there for those really bad nights, not strictly road legal but I like to see where I'm going, wouldn't use them on the normal lights because it would blind oncoming traffic. Can you get the Rally spec bulbs or do I need to source those elsewhere?

Is it possible to wire the fogs up so they come on with the full beam? (apologies if this is obvious, I don't do wires :) )

Gaz Walker
09-12-03, 21:51
Cheers Mike...

Will check about the Rallye's in the morning.

I suspect so regarding the lights, changing the switches over etc.

Gaz.

Have a look here. It involves you playing with wires  (It's all easy stuff)
MkIV.COM Fog light MOD (http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/foglight_mod/index.html)

Or just keep them on with your dipped beam :)

Thanks for that, looks easy enough but I'd prefer to retain control of the light on the stalk as well as having it come on with full beam, guess you can't have both though.

At the moment I always have the fogs on with the dipped so I can see where I'm going but with the rally bulbs in that might be considered rude :)

Wipeout
09-12-03, 22:13
Go on, be rude!!!

I run with both on and have not been flashed yet, doesn't the fog beam get directed lower down so it shouldn't blind people. (I may be wrong here, but that is how it looks)

Anyway just be rude :)

michael
09-12-03, 22:18
100w is an awful lot of rudeness though :)

You've reminded me of something else now, my passenger side lamps need adjusting, it was foggy tonight and the beam isn't pointing in the right direction - can any old garage with a beam pattern chart adjust the Supra lamps or is it more involved than the usual twisting of screws?

Wipeout
09-12-03, 22:26
Yip!! 100w will do it.

I think any MOT garage should be able to adjust the pattern, as they may be required to do it for an MOT. It looks easy enough to do using the screws on the back of the lamps.
