I'm aware that there is a stock amp under the passengers seat but I remember reading years ago that some people need to leave this plugged in, inorder for their stereo to work. Why is this? I have disconnected mine as I followed the cables into the dash and none were connected to the new stereo. This is what I have taken out:

My only concern was there was a wire plugged into it which doesn't go to the dash, it going into the wiring loom under the passengers door seal. Can anyone tell me what it does please? Here's the cable I'm referring to:

Had anyone or know of anyone who's fitted a small amp in the same place as the OEM amp to power the front two speakers only?

I'm looking at sound deadening my car aswell. How much will I need to do the doors, boot and cabin? I've read a few threads and I'm looking at getting some eDead products, but can anyone recommend which one is best please. Options (http://www.edaudio.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=43).

Thank you :)

I took mine out too kev. Im pretty sure that plug is still there on mine.

When you add the autoleads adaptor you bypass the amp.

There are a couple of threads about small amps under the seats ;)

As for the sound deadening you don't need the foil lined stuff, that is for a combo of heat shielding and noise damping.

Get some fire retardent foam too to fill the large voids in the rear arches behind the rear door cards.

I might need the foiled stuff as my decat is very snug under the bottom of the car :D

I'll try a few more searches, thanks for your input Colin :)

Ah i see. I would only get enough of the foil stuiff to cover that area. No need to spend extra on it when not needed Kev. ;)
