Airlock it seems!

I recently replaced a hose to the back of the engine as it had split - steam everywhere! ever since I had it back on, It seems I'm getting a bit of airlock.. The car idle's at a constant temperature at any revs, but about 3k or so revs, I hear bubbbling behind the dash. The heater no longer heats - it used to be boiling hot, now it warms when I rev if I'm lucky, on motorway journeys, it goes cold after 25 mins or so. I'm pretty certain it's airlock, any tips how to get rid of it though?

I've tried running it and removing the rad cap when I've got home after a run, should I leave the car running and take the cap off?
