You can mess about and kick its arse out but as far as REAL drifting goes, no, no u cant do it in an auto.

If u havent had rwd before and wanna start drifting id suggest an old s13 or s14, pick them up for under 4k

just what i was about to say, you can look like a hero coming out of junctions and car parks and maybe get a wee bit of a slide going on the roads but without the clutch you dont have much control so if it goes wrong on you your screwed, i can come out of junctions and maintain the supra sidwasy for most of the road from side to side but ive been practiseing and have been round rear wheel drive cars for a while, do not get a supra and attemp it straight away

for you to do it right youve to apreciate the car your in and its power the last thing we want to see is it buried round a lamp post

my friend sold this supra to a fella in belfast here and within two days he done this by trying to drift :( it is now in a scrap yard

I would NOT get something like a twin turbo Supra as your first RWD car, I'd start off with something much less powerful. They are very tail happy in so far as they have a lot of low end torque. Unless you have amazing willpower and self control you'll end up scaring yourself, if not worse, if it's your first foray into RWD, and I don't mean that patronizingly. I think anyone passing a test in a FWD car should have a different test for any powerful RWD car, same as the manual / auto tests. Luckily for me my parents wouldn't finance anything like a Supra when I was 19, nor could I anything like afford something of comparable performance in those days, otherwise I'd almost certainly have killed myself, or worse, a third party. I was bad enough in a 2 litre Capri :) You can get away with murder in a pwerful FWD car, compared to RWD, I have always strongly suspected so many MKIV's are written off because the drivers have come to them from a FWD car. People of my age saw FWD cars as a novelty, and were weaned on iffy handling RWD cars, so catching a tail slide became second nature, but the cars would slide at walking pace, and not even go much over 80 MPH ;)
