i have a concept 650 fitted to my car, and pretty much nothing works on it. it has been slowly deteriorating for the past year or so. it was fitted before i bought the car.

what it does...

-it locks and unlocks

-it has a pathetic proximity detector. an elephant could run into the side of it and it would take it half an hour to realize.

-the alarm siren happily works

what it doesn't do

-the proximity warning chirps do not happen, it just chirps once and then goes off immediately

-the door sensors are somewhat none existent

-is there supposed to be tilt sensors on this too? if so, my one doesn't

i have and installation certificate and i know Clifford have a 1 years warranty on their products, but its been on the car almost 2 years so thats out the window. i've already contacted Clifford about it, but haven't had a reply yet. how much do you reckon i am going to be charged to sort all of this? and why is it so BAD, has it been fitted by some monkeys? or have others experienced this?

i had this on my old calibra, it all worked fine for the first 3.5 years and then started playing up.

the place who installed it couldn't figure out what the problem was even though they tried replacing sensors etc. (apparently).

sold the car before a resolution was found :(

the proxy has no tunable things on it, unless they've used the directed one rather than the actual clifford one, as it all has to be done through cliffwizard thing or through valet mode on the remote, check your owners book

As for the shock sensor that has a little knob on it which you turn, more and less sensativity

As for the door sensors, more than likely connected to your interior light circuit, does that work ok? or you have faulty door switches on the car itself

You can adjust the proximity sensor sensitivity using the valet switch, but it only explains it in the installers guide, not the user's guide. Haven't got it with me here, but if you're still after the instructions in a couple of days, drop me a PM and I'll send them on.

A little clarity needed here I think... :)

clifford alarms are the work of the devil :(

Clifford alarms, IMO, are excellent. Sadly there are many people out there that have no idea how to fit a Clifford properly. They CANNOT be rushed. They're not a fit-and-forget type alarm like most out there. They need yo be installed by people that are conscientious about their work and take the time to set them up properly. Nearly all Clifford problems are either down to the installer, who couldn't be bothered to set them up properly, or down to the user, for nut understanding/reading the instructions.

Depends which shock sensor is used. The Omni-sensor is adjusted via the remote control in the same way as the Dual Zone Proximity sensor. The basic shock sensor is the one that has a knob on the side.

I thought clifford 650's where under warranty for as long as you have the car?

Take it to a certified Clifford Specialist.

Nope. A Clifford has a guarantee for parts and labour for 1 year. The labour part of that is only covered by the ORIGINAL installer.

The alarm control unit and remote controls have a lifetime warranty against defects, (not poor setting up, or water damage or physical breakage, or blown up etc.). But this warranty is ONLY to the original purchaser and must be submitted for repair with a copy of the original invoice.

The Dual Zone Proximity sensor is adjusted using the MASTER remote control only. Not the valet switch.
